Sean Strickland aka. ‘Tarzan’ is now the undisputed UFC Middleweight champ after beating Israel Adesanya at his own game – taking the title home by a unanimous decision. However, amidst the thrilling fights, there was a new face in the commentary booth that grabbed everyone’s attention – Laura Sanko. Stepping in as a replacement for the legendary UFC commentator Joe Rogan, Sanko’s distinctive and clever commentary style made a lasting impression.

After the fight was over, ‘Notorious’ took to his X handle to share his two cents on the UFC 293 PPV. In a series of tweets, he shed light on his POV about the fights and the drama – and especially on Laura Sanko’s commentary.

Laura Sanko’s journey as a UFC commentator began at UFC Fight Night 218 when she became the first female commentator in the modern era of the UFC. However, not everyone was initially on board with the idea of Laura Sanko stepping into Joe Rogan’s shoes. Former UFC Heavyweight champion and iconic commentator Daniel Cormier, also known as ‘DC,’ had his reservations.

In a recently gone viral clip, ‘DC’ playfully trolled Sanko during a practice commentary session. Sanko was trying to commentate on what appeared to be a prerecorded MMA fight. ‘DC’ chimed in with some banter, saying, “Commentate these two big boys!” But Sanko stumbled over her words, and ‘DC’ couldn’t resist teasing her, saying, “Laura, you’re losing!” Sanko responded with a playful, “Stop talking!”

However, ‘DC’ saved his best line for last – “Laura, let me tell you something, you commentate like this, you’ll be calling this sh*t next.”

Despite the initial teasing, Laura Sanko’s debut at UFC 293 proved to be a success, and McGregor’s praise only adds to her growing reputation as a talented UFC commentator.
