However, since then, the American fighter has gone 4-0 up, and the Brit has become the division champion. And after his impressive victory at UFC 280 against Sean Brady, Belal Muhammad has set his eyes on the gold. While eyeing a #1 contender fight, the Chicago-based fighter is now open to a ‘money fight’ approach as well.

In an exclusive interview with MMA Mania, the #4 welterweight fighter talked about his potential future fights, his nickname origin, and his training experience with Khabib. Further, ‘Remember the Name’ also opened up about money fights against Conor McGregor or Jorge Masvidal.

What did Belal Muhammad say about his next fight?

The 22-3 record holder currently finds himself in a congested division. Besides the trilogy fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman in early 2023, Colby Covington vs Khamzat Chimaev fight is also in the work. Therefore, leaving Belal’s title shot in limbo.

However, everything is not bleak for the fighter as he is targeting a money matchup. In the interview, the 34-year-old fighter revealed his intention to fight the ‘Gamebred’ or the Irishman.

Hence, he told Drake Riggs, “If Masvidal wants to fight, too, we’ll fight him. Or even Conor McGregor. He’s walking around at 200 pounds now. Any one of those big money fights, I’m down with, or definitely a No. 1 contender fight.”

[Masvidal fight] a win-win for me… I think that my fight makes more sense if you want to get back into title contention,” Belal added further.

Notably, Jorge Masvidal is currently on a 3-loss streak stretching back to UFC 251 against the then-champion, Kamaru Usman. But still, ‘Gamebred’ has not seen a fall in his stocks.

Meanwhile, the former two-division UFC champion is eyeing a comeback in the Octagon after a long layoff. Given that the Dublin-born fighter has achieved a shredded physique, the speculations of McGregor shifting to a higher division have gained traction.

Therefore, both money fights are possible for the UFC fighter, who is currently on a 9 fights unbeaten streak.

Belal Muhammad’s dig at Conor McGregor

The Roufusport representative has already taken a dig at his probable opponent. The American fighter took to Twitter and posted a laughing emoji to a meme that compared both the fighters’ recent stats.

Since his UFC 205 victory in 2016, Conor McGregor has only managed a single win in the past 6 years. The sole win for the ‘Notorious’ came against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in 2020.
