Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor was the biggest event in UFC history. The fight had one of the most intense build-ups, which is not really surprising for a Conor McGregor fight. But the build-up between him and Nurmagomedov was just running on pure animosity. It was no surprise that the two shared no love for each other. It also showed Nurmagomedov’s dominance over his competition in MMA. However, despite the outcome, some believe that ‘The Notorious’ certainly stole a round in the fight.

Khabib Nurmagomedov, in his reign as UFC lightweight champion, was undoubtedly the most terrifying fighter. Forget losing a fight, it was unlikely for the Dagestani to lose a round. Many before have tried but none were able to succeed. So, McGregor winning a round in their fight did seem like a very big accomplishment. None other than Joe Rogan gave his take on the fight.

Joe Rogan in an episode of his podcast, had an interesting take on the Nurmagomedov ‘GOAT’ conversation. Rogan stated, “He’s in the conversation for the greatest of all time. Because it’s not even a matter of whether he lost because he never lost. he’s 29 and 0.” Rogan went on to give credit to how dominant of a fighter Nurmagomedov was in his reign as champion. He stated, “It’s a matter of Did he ever lose a round?”

The colored Commentator then went on to give an example using Nurmagomedov’s fight against McGregor. He explained, “He lost maybe one round in the Conor McGregor fight. Because in the Conor McGregor fight, he was, in one round, it looked like he was kind of taking a round off to really put the heat on him. It was slowing Connor down and then he just, he was just taking him down and beating the shit out of him. Beating the shit out of him yelling at him, ‘Let’s talk now let’s talk’, because there was so much of like trash talk during you know. it was it was a very emotionally charged fight. ”

Rogan concluded his statement by saying, “I think he might have lost one round in that fight where Connor got the best of him standing”

Joe Rogan isn’t wrong. Given Khabib Nurmagomedov’s dominance in the lightweight division, it wasn’t easy to win a round, let alone win a fight against the Dagestani. The two have since taken different paths in life, but it’s no secret that the loss still dawns over ‘The Notorious’ like a terrible dream.
