Jorge Masvidal doesn’t think Conor McGregor will ever be back in the UFC octagon again. ‘Mac’, of course, is seemingly desperate for a fight date and has called on Dana White for the same repeatedly. However, ‘Gamebred’ somehow thinks the Irishman will never fight again.
“I don’t think so [that McGregor will fight ever again in the UFC] bro. I hope he proves me wrong though, obviously, you know. But uh I don’t think so,” the former BMF champion told ‘MMAFightingOnSBN’ in an interview.
If what Masvidal has predicted turns out to be true, it will put Michael Chandler, who has been waiting two years to face Conor McGregor, in a very awkward spot. Not to fear, however, since ‘Gamebred’ has volunteered to replace McGregor for the Chandler fight.

“That wouldn’t be a bad fight [against Michael Chandler] to get my feet wet again with MMA. Kind of introductory course into MMA, you know. I wouldn’t mind that fight, but there’s a lot of fights out there. I just throw out that one, like let’s go, you want to go down one with one of the most f***ing electrifying motherf***ers to ever touch the sport, let’s f***ing go,” Masvidal added.
There, of course, is just one problem with Masvidal’s suggestion- he isn’t signed to the UFC anymore. The UFC’s first BMF champ, of course, retired in April 2023 and has only boxed Nate Diaz since then. Nevertheless, it is specifically a boxing match that has caused the welterweight to contemplate making a comeback in the UFC.

How Nate Diaz convinced Jorge Masvidal to come back to the UFC
Jorge Masvidal felt he was well on his way to winning his boxing match with Nate Diaz this July. After all, the Cuban-American landed more punches on his former UFC foe and caught Diaz with some solid punches in the course of their clash. This is why the 39-year-old was so incensed at Diaz eking out a majority decision to win after their ten-round clash.
“It left a bad taste in my mouth. I knew with three California judges and fighting a dude in California,” Masvidal explained. The former UFC star admitted that while Diaz insisting on three California judges was a huge red flag, he felt he wouldn’t even need the judges, and was planning on knocking out the Stockton native.

Unfortunately, the fight did go to the scorecard and Masvidal’s fears were proven true. Masvidal was so disgusted that he lost interest in boxing, completely, and promised to stay away from it. He admitted this was one of the main reasons he had gotten in touch with the UFC to try to work on a comeback.
While ‘Gamebred’ remains one of the most recognizable names in the entire sport even a year after his retirement, he is 39, and how interested Dana White and co. will be in having him back remains to be seen. What are your thoughts on Jorge Masvidal’s UFC comeback aspirations?
