“If you think I’m up here giving these speeches and leading these men into battle and I won’t step in there myself, think again.” With these words, Conor McGregor sent a shockwave through the fighting community and proved yet again why he became the most hyped and highest-paid athlete in the realm of mixed martial arts. Even though he still has 2 fights left in his UFC contract, he let the fighting world know that he would fight under the banner of BKFC. With the fans impressed yet again with his skills with the microphone, McGregor stepped forward with self-praise.
Well, it’s not exactly self-praise if the words aren’t your own, right? Well, ‘The Notorious’ didn’t care. When he stumbled across Forged Army Italy’s Instagram Story, he couldn’t keep calm anymore. The story had a picture of the former UFC double champion during the unveiling of the BKFC’s fight card for April 26, 2025. And the caption read, “THE FACE OF THE FIGHT GAME. PERIOD,” with McGregor’s Instagram handle tagged. Pleased with the statement, he reshared the story on his own Instagram profile and let the words go viral.
Needless to say, his words have put Dana White on high alert. Not just because the Irishman was talking about his debut into the realm of fighting without gloves. But because the face of the fight game was promoting an indirect(for the moment) competitor. Do you think McGregor’s involvement in the BKFC’s promotions would put the UFC in the shadows? Well, we’ll have to wait and watch.

But for now, it’s nothing but excitement that has covered the fighting world. And the reason is, of course, Conor McGregor’s return to fight following his long hiatus. After making a major announcement regarding his interest in bringing Fedor Emelianenko into the fighting games again, he revealed that he wanted to fight for the BKFC belt as well. Let’s hear it from ‘The Notorious’.

Conor McGregor makes huge announcement about his BKFC fight
While promoting the BKFC event set for Palazzo Wanny in Florence, ‘Mystic Mac’ teased that he will indeed fight in the BKFC. He quoted the Italian phrase ‘il tempo è denaro’, which meant ‘time is money’. However, the former UFC double champion wasn’t out for a big paycheck. Instead, he declared that he would fight for free in the organization he partly owned. And his focus was on the belt.
McGregor said, “I’d like a world title in this company. I would wish to be the bare-knuckle world champion. That is a significant belt to hold in your career. Nobody from boxing to mixed martial arts can speak nothing bad on a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship world champion. So for sure, I’d be coming in looking for the world title.”

But who would ‘The Notorious’ fight against? It seemed like he had planned it all. The Dubliner named Mike Perry, Jeremy Stephens, and even stood for a rematch against Eddie Alvarez. Nevertheless, all he wanted was to own the lightweight or welterweight championship belt. But before he can step into the bare-knuckle fighting ring as a contender, he has to fight 2 bouts inside the Octagon.
What are your thoughts on McGregor’s announcement? Do you think that he really is the face of the fight game? How well do you think he would fare in the BKFC as a contender? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
