Joe Rogan spoke out on his podcast, the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’, and did a deep dive into UFC 257. The marquee fight card recently wrapped up and produced some excellent fights, especially on the main card. Moreover, the main and co-main event lightweight features also delivered in a massive way, leaving fans with plenty to talk about.
Chiefly, the main event witnessed an upset as Dustin Poirier managed to TKO Conor McGregor, an outcome few predicted. The Irishman couldn’t keep up with Poirier’s pressure and ended up crumbling under his hefty pace and power. Following his first TKO loss in MMA, fans and pundits have begun vehemently debating his next appropriate step.

Joe Rogan weighs in on Conor McGregor’s next move
The UFC commentator was one of the many personalities within the community to think about what’s next for Mystic Mac. From his standpoint, Rogan believes that fighting Nate Diaz is the most viable match-up for McGregor. On the JRE, he went on to list out several reasons why it makes sense to scrap against Stockton’s second son.
“Conor vs Nate Diaz is an excellent option. It’s an excellent option, because that doesn’t offend anyone like myself who is a purist. Give them some time off. It doesn’t offend anyone and Nate is not the kind of kicker Dustin is, he’s much more of a boxer. It falls into Conor’s wheelhouse more.”

“Nate is also insanely durable and Nate also has a finish over Conor. Conor does not have a finish over Nate Diaz.”
The general consensus is that a McGregor vs Diaz rubber match would be the next best step as both men are coming off losses. As Rogan mentioned, Diaz isn’t heavily reliant on leg kicks and his style as a pure boxer is much more viable for McGregor going forward.

Diaz is arguably a less risky fight on the feet and isn’t particularly known for his KO power. Conor needs to rack up a win in his next outing to maintain his cult-status like popularity in the sport. He’s not had sustained success since 2016, and will need to accrue some blockbuster wins to ensure his appeal to casual fans.
