The Irish superstar is known for his astonishing skills on the feet. However, the former double champion claims that as he has more tools in his arsenal, the sport needs to give him his dues.
‘The Notorious‘, in an interview with Severe MMA, was asked if he would come back straight to a title fight. He said, “It’s about time this game starts giving me respect for my different styles of fighting, my ground game, my shots downward, my shots upwards.”
Also, McGregor detailed that there was a slight chance of his bone never healing back to normal. Still, it didn’t bother him, as he feels his overall game is enough to get him through the fights.
Oddly, ‘The Notorious’ believes he had a great showing with his attacks from the bottom in the Dustin Poirier trilogy. Yet, two of the three judges scored the first round as a 10-8 round for ‘The Diamond’.

If history is any indication of what to make of McGregor’s callout, other contenders in the lightweight division should be worried. This is because ‘The Notorious’ is no stranger to jumping the queue and getting championship opportunities handed to him.
His championship bouts against Eddie Alvarez and Khabib Nurmagomedov were prime examples of him getting title shots over other deserving contenders. Though ‘Do Bronx‘ has a confirmed a bout against ‘The Highlight‘ Justin Gaethje at UFC 274, a McGregor bout is always a tempting proposal.
