Conor McGregor starrer ‘Road House’ released a few days ago, on March 21, and it was everything most fans expected. People are still abuzz with chatter over McGregor’s performance in the movie. The multi-weight champion of UFC recently talked about his character of the ruthless villain, ‘Knox,’ opposite Jake Gyllenhaal’s ‘Dalton’, and the stunts that he had to do.

McGregor’s assent to the silver screen seems as swift as his left hand, and since he is a professional, most of the stunts were done by him without a double. However, the former UFC champion pointed out that one specific stunt was not allowed to him for his own protection.

The movie has already acquired 50 million viewers on Amazon after its release on the platform on March 21. McGregor seemed elated with the amount of money he made from his movie debut and was also glad that he did his stunts himself. Most of the fans have already been exposed to the different fight scenes and stunts that are there in the movie.

However, McGregor revealed that there was one scene where he needed a body double. During his interview with Jetset Magazine, the host asked him whether he did all the leg sweeps and body blows by himself in the movie. He said, “I’d say 98%. I was pretty much healed from the injury, but not to the point of returning to competition.”

‘The Notorious’ pointed out that one staircase scene was done by a body double. This was to protect the UFC star since he had just completely healed from his leg break. McGregor said, “The only thing they wouldn’t let me do was the scene where I fell backward down a flight of stairs.”

He also mentioned that the crew was meticulously prepared and had body doubles during all the fight scenes. He did not use them because he thought that they did not look like him and he wanted to be as authentic as possible. Meanwhile, the fighter was aware of the difference between fighting and acting and mentioned it previously.

McGregor reflects on the difference between fighting and acting

During the press conference with the cast members of ‘Road House’, the former 2-division UFC and Cage Warriors champion mentioned how acting and fighting inside the Octagon were starkly different. He mentioned that when he prepared for an Octagon fight, he had to train for five rounds or 25 minutes.

McGregor said, “As far as it [filming] being tough versus the fighting [in UFC], you know what the job is, you’ve got 25 minutes or less. I’ve finished people in seconds.” However, a two-minute fight scene in a movie can also sometimes take more than two hours to film and that is exactly what McGregor faced. “This [filming] is 18-hour days, and it’s consecutive day after day and it’s also real,” McGregor added.

Meanwhile, the fight in the movie might be scripted, but injuries did happen to both McGregor and Gyllenhaal. “I threw him [Jake Gyllenhaal] over the bar twenty times. He slammed a door on my head about 20 times and I had a black eye and everything from the door,” McGregor added. Ultimately, it is all part of the process and McGregor seemed stoked to do it.
