Conor McGregor is amongst the most popular combat athletes in the world. The fighter is known all across the world for his MMA skills and outspoken personality. ‘Notorious’ has been involved in some of the most high-profile combat sports events of the last decade and is amongst the highest-earning athletes around the globe.

Today, the fighter is amongst the richest sports personalities out there; however, the fighter comes from very humble beginnings in Ireland. Therefore, the latest news that McGregor has sponsored the full cost of the Irish Youth team traveling for the IMMAF 2021 Youth World Championships comes as no surprise.

In a statement released by the Irish MMA association, they confirmed that McGregor has sponsored the full cost of the team. Team Ireland Head Coach Andy Ryan commented on the same.

He said, “This gesture by Conor has come at a time when Irish MMA needed it most. Gyms were among the worst hit by the Covid pandemic and throughout 2020, thousands of young athletes were unable to train on the mats with their teammates and coaches.”

The last year has been tough for everyone because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it was heartwarming to see someone like Conor McGregor supporting the young MMA fighters of his country.

What Next For Conor McGregor?

Conor McGregor is all set to face Dustin Poirier at the UFC 264 event. This fight is not the first between the two as the pair have competed before on 2 occasions. ‘Notorious’ first faced Poirier at the UFC 178 event, McGregor won that fight via a first-round TKO.

Ever since that fight fans had been eagerly waiting for a rematch between the two. Finally, the pair faced each other again 7 years later at the UFC 257 event. This time it was Poirier who had the last laugh and won the fight via a 2nd round TKO. And with victories set at 1 apiece, the trilogy fight between the fighters is beautifully set.
