Dana White has already spent a massive $17 million dollars on UFC 306 recently rebranded Noche UFC, the once-in-a-lifetime event for the sports fans. Poised to go down as the MMA event of the year, Noche UFC will take place at the Las Vegas Sphere on September 14 on the sidelines of Mexican Independence Day. As the day for the ultimate events draws near, a UFC insider has come forward to demand a Conor McGregor fight on the grand stage.

According to Dana White, the promotion will never return to the Sphere after UFC 306. To make the first sporting event at the venue a massive and memorable one, the promotion needs something or someone who could potentially shatter the record altogether. As per a former UFC fighter, ‘The Notorious’ might be the answer to the UFC Sphere equation.

Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler were supposed to throw hands at UFC 303. However, ‘Notorious’ pulled out of the clash after he injured himself just days away from their bout. Dana White has asserted that he would not speak about a McGregor match till he was ready for a fight. However, as UFC 306 stands on the pedestal of greatness, Brendan Schaub has come forward with a simple request for the UFC supremo.

While having a conversation on ‘Thiccc Boy’ podcast, Schaub emphasized that despite Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili‘s stardom fight, it is McGregor who can actually do any justice to the UFC Noche event. “Dana says it’s going to be the biggest combat sports event in history. And it’s no disrespect to ‘Sugar’ Sean and Merab. You can have them on there too, but in order to say that, the main event would have to be super special. Merab vs. Sugar? Dude, that’s a great fight. I’ll watch that all day,” says Schaub.

He further added, “But if you’re telling me I’m going to be blown away, here we go. Here we go. If you’re telling me I’m going to be blown away, and it’s going to be the best combat sports event in history, and what the NHL did is nothing compared to what the UFC’s going to do, you better blow me away. I better get blown away. And what will do that is Conor vs. Chandler at the Sphere.”

There are also reports that Valentina Shevchenko will not be available to take on Alexa Grasso for the flyweight title at UFC Noche. That fight would have been a rematch from last year’s UFC Noche card and would have befitted the event since Grasso is a Mexican champion.

So, the timing of the event is immaculate considering the fact that McGregor has also asserted that he would be returning to the Octagon around September. Well, even though Sean O’Malley has asked White to give him the Dvalishvili fight at UFC 306, the ultimate decision lies at the hands of the UFC supremo and the matchmakers. Well, what about Chandler and McGregor? Will they want to fight at UFC 306? Let’s find out.

The troubled fate of Chandler vs. McGregor

After the UFC 303 fiasco, Dana White advised Michael Chandler to not wait for Conor McGregor, if he wanted to get ahead in his career and since then there have been rumors that Chandler has started looking for more opponents to fight. The former Bellator champ took to his X handle to state that he was offered to fight Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title. However, the Dagestani later denied the claims.

So what’s next? Well, when a fan asked Chandler to fight Nate Diaz at the UFC Noche, ‘Iron’ immediately agreed with the proposal. “Better idea – me and @NateDiaz209 fight like two men while Conor sits on a yacht and watches on PPV in his slippers. #ufcnoche #riyadhseason” Nate Diaz is fresh off a victory against Jorge Masvidal in their boxing bout and is willing to make a comeback to the Octagon. Their clash might be on the cards considering the fact that Chandler has been inactive for two years now.

As for Conor McGregor, he is enjoying the time of his life with his family in Switzerland. However, we should not forget that McGregor has asserted that he would be returning to the Octagon around September. Who is going to be Chandler’s next opponent and where are they going to clash?
