The Dubliner tweeted, “500k ppv buys 302 done. A nothing burger”. McGregor is known for his ability to generate PPV for the UFC. One of the biggest numbers ever generated in the promotion was during his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The event generated a PPV number of 2.4 billion and a Las Vegas record live gate of $17.2 million. It is now etched in the history books as the biggest night of the sports 30-year-history. This was the first time when McGregor actually revealed the numbers of a PPV and then deleted it.
Compared to UFC 300, the UFC 302 event saw comparatively fewer numbers. However, one cannot term it as meager. According to Yahoo Sports, the UFC promotional guidelines compliance for the PPV came up to $281,500. More than the numbers, the fans tuned in to witness some of the best fighters in the promotion.
One of the biggest attractions of the night was the lightweight title clash between Poirier and Islam Makhachev. Although Poirier lost the fight, he put up a show for the fans. Despite McGregor mocking the 35-year-old, Poirier praised his former opponent in his post-fight press conference.

35-year-old Dustin Poirier featured in one of the toughest fights of his career at UFC 302. He took on the lightweight kingpin Islam Makhachev and went the full distance. However, the Dagestani fighter in the last minutes won the clash, thus defending his title for the third time.
Poirier in his post-fight press conference seemed a bit dejected and also hinted at retirement. While speaking at the press conference, one reporter asked him to pick a favorite for the upcoming UFC 303 fight.
Looking at the past rivalry between Poirier and McGregor, many felt he would choose Michael Chandler. However, the 35-year-old surprised everyone when he said, “If Conor comes back anywhere similar to what he was before the injury. I’m talking timing – wise his rhythm I think he knocks Chandler out”. However, with McGregor coming out and mocking Poirier, it seems that he might just choose ‘Iron’ if he is asked the same question now.
