Islam Makhachev is a simple man. He likes fighting, competitive vigor, and winning titles. However, there is a surprising entry to this list- his humongous farm. The UFC lightweight champ, who grew up in the remote village of Burshi in his native Dagestan, has built an impressive one-thousand-animal-strong farm where he rears sheep and horses.

But more importantly, the farm is an oasis for the Dagestani champ, who goes there to relax, kick his feet up, and just relax with his family and friends away from all the cameras, fans, and the rigors of the gym. Makhachev gave a tour of the farm on the ‘Countdown’ episode for UFC 311 where the champ proudly told the cameras that having a farm like this had always been a dream of his.

And surprisingly, even Conor McGregor seemingly liked Makhachev’s farm. The Irishman, of course, hates Khabib Nurmagomedov and his Dagestani cohorts, including Makhachev, with a passion. This feud, of course, goes back to the historic UFC 229 clash between ‘Mystic Mac’ and ‘The Eagle’ and has continued to rage on till this day.

But after MMA outlet ‘Home of Fight’ posted a clip of Makhachev talking about his farm, they were surprised to find out that the Irishman was one of the people who had liked the post. Needless to say, we had to check whether hell had frozen over, or if the sun had risen in the west, since McGregor detests the Dagestanis.

One possibility is that the Irishman accidentally liked the post, or his account had been hacked. On the other hand, it is easy to see why McGregor would enjoy seeing Makhachev living the good life on his farm.

Today, the Dubliner has been out of action for nearly four years, has lost three of his last four fights, and is a pale shadow of the guy who set fire to the combat sports world and helped make UFC an integral part of mainstream American cultural consciousness. In addition, his reputation outside the Octagon has taken a massive hit because of his recent legal troubles.

It is not unthinkable that the Irishman would like nothing better than to go to a remote farm with his family and spend some quality time with his loved ones, away from the big lights, the paparazzi, the parties, and the ridicule from the fans. That may be the reason why the former two-division champion liked a positive post about Islam Makhachev.

It’s not about the Dagestani per seit’s about what the Irishman himself would like to do. Of course, this is pure speculation, and maybe it’s not that deep. Maybe he just saw the post and enjoyed it so he gave it a like. But there is a possibility it’s the former. What do you think about Conor McGregor liking the post about Islam Makhachev’s farm?
