Conor McGregor’s recent legal troubles have invited quite a bit of threats and warnings to the Irishman’s doorsteps. But little did he know that his well-wishers would also get caught in the heat. The former UFC double champion was previously invited to corner the Bellator FC star Paul Hughes for his match against Usman Nurmagomedov in Dubai. However, losing the civil case filed against him seemed to have sent it all spiraling as Nurmagomedov’s team lashed out at the Irishman.

Back in October, Hughes asked McGregor to be on his team fo the fight. He quoted, “Conor, I want you in my corner for that fight, 100 percent. How cool would that be? I mean, we might need some extra security that night, but I’m down for it. I think it would be fun.” ‘The Notorious’ took no time to respond to ‘Big News’. Taking to X, the ‘Mystic Mac’ wrote, “Paul, my man, I will go to the arena and support 100% for sure, and if it kicks off I’ll be in there before you could even say “the nurmagomedovs are juice head i-–ed rats married to their cousins”. Your team and corner have done a tremendous job with you! They will take you all the way! You’ve got this! We are with you brother, bring home the Gold!”

But with the shadow of legal issues enveloping McGregor, things have taken a different turn. Khabib Nurmagomedov’s former manager, Ali Abdelaziz sent a warning to Hughes while mocking McGregor at the same time. Weeks before the Dagestan vs. Ireland 2, Abdelaziz tweeted, “I hope Paul Hughes will not try to bring McGregor with him to Dubai, it will not be a good look for him and probably both him and his whole team will be deported.”

It has been about 6 years since Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor locked horns at UFC 229. Needless to say, Dagestan vs. Ireland 1 was packed with action and controversies, which gave rise to a seemingly eternal rivalry. After all, ‘The Eagle’ seldom leaves a chance to mock his former Irish opponent.

Khabib Nurmagomedov takes a subtle jibe at Conor McGregor amidst recent legal controversy

What’s your perspective on:

Is McGregor's presence in Hughes' corner a boost or a liability for the Irish fighter?

Have an interesting take?

After the Irishman was found liable to pay more than $250,000 in damages to Nikita Hand, an account on X by the name of Convictmcgregor, created a crypto coin known as “$CONVICT”. Not long after the tweet began circling the internet, ‘The Eagle’ stumbled upon it and found his chance to take a jibe at McGregor. Replying to Convictmcgregor, Nurmagomedov wrote, “Good job guys, you have my full support, this guy deserve punishment.”

Even Nurmagomedov’s protege and the current lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev dropped his diss on the Dubliner. Makhachev seemed to believe that this day was coming for a long time. He tweeted, “It was a matter of time till this filthy b—- be exposed.”

While the heat against ‘The Notorious’ keeps on rising, it’s essential to note that the Irishman was not found guilty of the charges. Disappointed with the jury’s decision, McGregor has claimed that he would file an appeal. If the court accepts the appeal, McGregor might just clear his name. But that decision lies with the Dublin jurisdiction.

The question that remains is whether the ‘Mystic Mac’ would be present in Hughes’ corner at the Coca-Cola arena or not. Well, that’s something that remains to be found out. But what’s your opinion on Hughes’ request? Do you think they’d get deported from Dubai is McGregor is found guilty? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
