Is Dana White's spontaneous signing of Nabotov a game-changer for underdog fighters worldwide?

Dana White certainly made one MMA fighter’s dream come true. Let me ask you, what’s a bigger stage for an MMA fighter than the UFC? That’s exactly what a combatant from Tajikistan, named Dorobshokh Nabotov realised when he approached Dana White as a member of the crowd for a fight in his promotion during the recent UFC 308 presser. In an instant, the CEO invited the fighter on stage and reportedly signed him to a contract. That news quickly reached Conor McGregor, who hailed the 55-year-old’s noble act.

Dorobshokh Nabotov is reportedly a 25-year-old lightweight fighter. During the recent presser, he took the chance to introduce himself to the UFC CEO, Dana White, and expressed his desire to fight, even if it was on “short notice.” The head honcho was visibly stunned and impressed at the same time and decided to give it a go and extended a handshake before Nabotov was ushered backstage. This, in turn, impressed Conor McGregor, who supported White’s decision to give the Tajikistan fighter a shot.

“How it’s done! Quality,” Conor McGregor commented on a post from ‘TheMacLife’, which shared a video of the interaction between Dana White and Dorobshokh Nabotov. Even ‘The Notorious’ has shown a lot of compassion towards his fighters in the BKFC, where he recently doubled the bonus and the payout of his BKFC Spain’s headliners.

This opportunity can probably change the 25-year-old’s life, who is 7-0, but told Dana White that he’s 9-0, for some reason. Nevertheless, this isn’t the only time Conor McGregor praised the UFC CEO for such a kindhearted decision. He did the same when White agreed to increase the UFC 300 bonus amount as well.

Conor McGregor previously claimed Dana White’s decision to increase the UFC 300 bonus was “life-changing”

Although Dana White has decided against raising bonus amounts due to certain matchups not living up to expectations, his decision to raise the UFC 300 bonus to $300,000 has garnered a lot of support and praise from the MMA fandom. That night, the pay-per-view did not disappoint as we witnessed some of the best knockouts ever in UFC history. Especially when Max Holloway etched his name in history with that highlight knockout of Justin Gaethje in the dying seconds of the final round. Conor McGregor, who wished to be on that card, shared a tweet, praising the UFC CEO once again for that bold decision.

“Huge shout out to Dana White and the UFC for upping the bonuses to $300k,” wrote Conor McGregor. “Life-changing money for many on the card. To look after your fighters is paramount! God speed Dana and team at UFC, onwards and upwards!” Besides, fighter pay has been an ongoing issue with the promotion, so the $300,000 did make a lot of difference for the fighters who have not only their financial aspirations but the aspirations of the ones supporting them – the coaches, teammates, and even the family members.

When McGregor opened up about having two fights on his current UFC contract, there were rumors that there was some heat between Dana White and his biggest superstar relating to contact issues. However, over the months, it’s been pretty clear that there’s no animosity between both sides. But it remains to be seen if McGregor makes White happy by living up to his 2025 return hopes.
