Joe Rogan and his support for Conor McGregor has caused fans to come out and slam the UFC color commentator and podcast host. McGregor has been out of competition since 2021 when he suffered a horrendous injury to his leg at UFC 264. The injury was severe enough to require the insertion of a titanium rod in McGregor’s leg. But Rogan’s demands for relaxed drug testing protocols to help his recovery haven’t sat well with the fans.

McGregor’s return to competition was delayed due to issues with his presence in the USADA testing pool. With the UFC’s partnership with USADA ending soon, Rogan has stated that he would support fighters being allowed to use PEDs to recover from catastrophic injuries under the new testing parameters.  However, this take hasn’t found support from fans who were quick to make their opinion on the matter clear in the comments!

Conor McGregor’s return to competition has been highly anticipated by the fans. But roadblocks in the form of USADA testing protocols have delayed his return. As the UFC and USADA partnership ends in 2024, McGregor will be tested under the new protocols set forth by ‘Drug Free Sport International’. The organization will be replacing USADA as the UFC’s primary partner for athlete testing.

As such, Joe Rogan in a recent episode of the JRE (Joe Rogan Experience) podcast stated, “I would imagine it’s going to be a little more lax, and I would support that. I certainly support guys taking things to recover from injuries like Conor did with his leg injury. 100 percent, no question about it. I’m 100 percent all in on that. That’s the only way. No one comes back from that. No one has ever come back from that catastrophic leg break.”

However, his comments have drawn flak from fans on social media who were quick to point out that other fighters have come back from far worse injuries!

His potential comeback against Michael Chandler seems likely in 2024 as UFC CEO Dana White has stated that the promotion is “close to the goal line” in securing his return. McGregor’s absence since 2021 has fans anticipating a strong return to form by the Irish star after his extended hiatus.

Despite the rumors and reports, the fight with Chandler is still unconfirmed. The training footage suggests that enthusiasm won’t be an issue, as McGregor looks to be hard at work to get back to his winning ways inside the Octagon.
