UFC welterweight Colby Covington recently discussed a fight with Islam Makhachev. Confident of securing the welterweight title at UFC 296, Covington wants to fight Makhachev next. However, ‘Chaos’ feels that Makhachev’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, is unwilling to let the fight happen. Abdelaziz in his Twitter post gave a reply to ‘Chaos’.

Makhachev is currently the lightweight champion, but has expressed interest in the 170 lbs title.  So if Covington wins the belt, only the UFC’s matchmaking could stand in the way of the pair facing each other. ‘Chaos’ is all set to take on Leon Edwards at UFC 296 for the welterweight title. He blasted Makhachev in a recent interview with James Lynch. According to Covington, Makhachev, as a fighter, has many flaws in his game that can be exploited. Makhachev has shown interest in fighting either Edwards or Covington for the welterweight title. But the former interim champion thinks the Dagestani is simply chasing clout.

Covington previously also mentioned how Ali Abdelaziz, the manager of Makhachev, did not want the fight to happen. Abdelaziz took to his Twitter account to respond to ‘Chaos.’ In his Tweet, he commented: ‘@ColbyCovMMA, everything you say will be used against you. Keep talking. A stern warning from the manager might hint at a fight between the two might be a future possibility.

Although Makhachev fights at a division lower than Covington, he is one of the largest 155-pound fighters on the roster. He has shown a lot of interest in moving up the weight. With the lightweight title already under his belt, Makhachev is ready to clinch the welterweight title as well. Who would he like to face in a title fight?
