Ronda Rousey is a Hall of Famer and former WWE and UFC Champion, and her career was a huge mountain climb. She helped usher women into the combat sports industry, despite Dana White saying that it would never happen, and was neck to neck with Conor McGregor at her peak becoming one of the most recognizable fighters in the UFC. However, the veteran recently got on the bad side of the MMA world as she slammed the media and the UFC legends for not supporting her. The 37-year-old blamed others for her short UFC career that unfortunately lasted only four odd years. Though Rousey received flak from many for her stance, Dana White recently came out in her support and it didn’t go well with the fans.
The same CEO who thought women could not make it to UFC complemented Rousey after she ushered a new ear. However, just as quickly as Rousey became famous, her stop in the UFC also reached faster. This came after a KO loss to Holly Holm and was followed by another defeat against Amanda Nunes. White believed that Rousey’s commitment to the UFC and her zeal to serve as one of the main promotion faces allowed the UFC to grow.
He told Shannon Sharpe on ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast, “While [Ronda Rousey] was doing what she was doing, building the sport and the UFC and women, all these other women were training to beat her. She had taken so much on her shoulders at the time, she couldn’t keep growing as a fighter during that period.”

Ronda Rousey never retired officially but was not looking forward to fighting after losing to Nunes, but White also felt that she decided to leave at the right time. Even outstanding fighters like Jon Jones, who according to White is a GOAT, said that Rousey was amazing and could even beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. However, fans do not echo the same sentiments.
Dana White slammed for defending Ronda Rousey
Rousey had taken Mayweather’s name claiming that she could beat him. She was never worried about gender and weight and felt that she could beat the best with her capabilities. Even Jon Jones complimented her saying, “In an MMA match, Sorry Floyd, but I have to give this one to Ronda.” Even though White and even Jones complimented her, the fans seemed upset with one of the greatest women fighters. They refused to term circumstances as the reason behind Rousey’s short UFC career and instead blamed her for not taking things seriously.

Taking a dig at the excuses dished out by Dana White in defense of the 37-year-old, a handful of fans claimed that the fighter never challenged herself during her training and preferred to stick to her comfort zone. “Excuses.. she stayed with a camp that wasn’t helping her evolve. They weren’t testing her and putting her in uncomfortable positions in the gym,” wrote a social media user. A UFC viewer also criticized her training camp, saying, “Or…. Her camp sucked and refused to evolve.”
Dana White made a lot of money from her fights and Rousey still makes money from her sponsorships. Referring to the same, an Instagram user commented, “Another Excuses fah days,” while another fan added, “Of course, Dana is going to defend Ronda Rousey besides Conor and Jon Jones Ronda Rousey was his biggest money maker.”
Some fans even commented on her ego and her fighting stance. She did not go back to a UFC fight after leaving the company because she felt she could get harassed by the fans. Criticizing her on the same, a fan said, “Come on Dana 😮Ronda should have been training harder. That’s what true warriors do.”

Meanwhile, a social media user seemed unimpressed by Rousey as they wrote, “Nah, she was protected in her career by avoiding legit fighters like Gina Carano and Cyborg.” A follower also criticized her attitude, saying, “Nothing to do with growing, it was her attitude and inflated ego.”
