Colby Covington is one of the most polarizing figures in the world of mixed martial arts. He has often been criticized for his trash talk and controversial statements. But, there is no denying his skills inside the octagon. Known for his aggressive fighting style and dominant performances, Covington has become one of the top welterweights in the UFC.

Recently, Covington found himself embroiled in a controversy with fellow welterweight fighter Belal Muhammad. The two have been going back and forth on social media and in interviews. Muhammad even wore a t-shirt with an image of Covington‘s injured face to a UFC interview. When asked about this in a recent interview with “Submission Radio,” Covington didn’t hold back.

Covington accused Muhammad of being a racist. This was after Belal Muhammad publicly stated that Covington is getting his title shot because of his skin color. He went on to say that Muhammad needs to publicly apologize for his remarks before he can earn anything in the UFC.

“Like the guy’s a straight racist. he’s trying to get away from the fact that he’s said a very racist thing. He should never have done that. That was career suicide so you know. He needs to come out and publicly apologize for the racist remarks”, said Covington.

Covington also pointed out that Muhammad hasn’t beaten any top fighters or earned a title shot, while he has beaten some of the best in the division. “He hasn’t beaten any top fighters. He hasn’t beaten a top-five guy. Everybody likes to say the things about me oh Colby hasn’t beat… Dude look at all the f*cking fights that I fought and look at what the ranking was that these guys when I fought them.”

Covington then went on to talk how he beat Jorge Masvidal, Rafael Dos Anjos, Tyron Woodley, and others while they all were in the top 5 rankings in the welterweight division.

Will Colby Covington and Belal Muhammad fight in the UFC octagon?

Colby Covington is most likely the next challenger for the UFC welterweight title. Dana White had announced it multiple times. Belal Muhammad, on the other hand, is in the long line of title shot contenders. His next opponent has not been announced yet. However, there are rumors of him facing undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov.
