UFC 303 is just around the corner, and the fans are super excited about the upcoming event. One of the biggest attractions of the event is the return of Conor McGregor. The Dubliner will make a return after a gap of three years, which has filled the fans with excitement. Following in his footsteps, 26-year-old Ian Garry will also be featuring at UFC 303 next. He will be taking on Michael ‘Venom’ Page as his next opponent after trying hard to get the attention of Colby Covington.

‘The Future’ is currently unbeaten and wants to go for the title next in his career. One of the biggest reasons for him to fight Covington is the latter’s ranking in the division. ‘Chaos’ is currently ranked #4 in the division, and a win against him will push Garry into the top five. However, ‘Chaos’ has shown no interest in taking on the 27-year-old, despite several callouts from the Irish superstar.

The pair has a bit of history between them, which began after Garry’s emphatic victory after UFC 298. During his post-fight interview, ‘The Future’ took the opportunity to call out the former interim champion for a fight. He even went on to claim that he would make the 35-year-old retire from the sport after defeating him. In response to all such claims, Covington went a step ahead and launched an attack on Garry’s wife, which angered most of the fans.

Since then, the pair have engaged in a lot of social media brawls, but with no end product. Covington has made it clear that Garry’s rankings don’t qualify him for a match against him. However, the fans on Reddit don’t quite agree with it, sharing their honest opinion about Covington’s decision to not fight Garry.

There are very few fighters in the UFC who have more opportunities than Colby Covington to win a title. Despite being a talented fighter, the 35-year-old has yet to win the title. Covington and Kamaru Usman fought each other twice in their career(UFC 245 and UFC 268) and Usman came out on top twice. That’s definitely not an achievement of his career, but one social media user feels it is. “Biggest achievement is literally losing to Usman twice,” they said.

Apart from his fighting skills, Covington is also famous for his trash-talking. However, there are times when he takes it a bit further, just like he did before his last fight at UFC 296 and one user is definitely not a fan of this, who wrote: “Colby has to be the worst trash talker of all time. Cringe I can let slide, but he’s just objectively bad at being a heel.” Covington last fought at UFC 296 and not only lost the fight but also broke his toe during the same. It seems that the 35-year-old has recovered from the injury but is not willing to go up against Garry, as one fan pointed out, “Look the kid just didn’t want to fight”. Can injury still be a reason for him not taking on the fight?

Talking about legacies, it seems ‘Chaos’ has his share of haters in the promotion. Despite being a skillful fighter, he is yet to win the title and one user actually doesn’t care if he retires at the moment, “If Colby disappeared and never fought again, it would literally make 0% difference in me watching the UFC .” At 26 years old, Ian Garry is at the peak of his career and is not looking for any easy fights at the moment. He is currently on a 10-fight winning streak and wanted Covington as his next opponent, which has impressed one user, “I hate Garry but respect to the dude for not looking for any easy matchups.”

Covington’s record in recent years hasn’t been impressive, and he was last seen inside the Octagon at UFC 296. His absence from the Octagon and his record haven’t impressed one user, “Yeah Colby is washed, bro. He hasn’t finished someone since 2020. And only fights once a year.” Colby Covington currently holds a record of 17-4-0 in his career and is also a former interim champion. However, he has yet to register a victory since UFC 272 but has forced the fans to believe he is not a fighter anymore, “Colby is not a serious fighter anymore. He wants to be an internet personality.”

Did Covington let an opportunity go this time? Fans would desperately want Garry to make a statement at UFC 303 next. Hence, it will be interesting to see whether Covington takes on Garry if he wins his fight at UFC 303. Do you think the pair will end up fighting with each other anytime soon?
