Colby Covington became the topic of discussion after Dana White asked him to appear for the weigh-ins at UFC 286 in a day’s notice. Not only did the former Interim champion obey the UFC boss, but was also nominated to get the next chance at fighting for the Welterweight title against Leon Edwards

Recently, James Lynch interviewed ‘Chaos’ and asked for his opinion on the Islam Makhachev versus Alexander Volkanovski fight. However, Covington didn’t accept that it was Makhachev who won the fight. On top of that, he went on a rant against Makhachev and his former coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov. He seemed to believe that if ‘The Eagle’ or his protégé landed against him, he would rise victorious due to his ‘well-rounded’ skills.

In the recent interview with Lynch, ‘Chaos’ opined about the main event of UFC 284, where Makhachev squared off against ‘The Great’. Although Makhachev retained his Lightweight title and won against Volkanovski, Covington apparently refused to accept it.

‘Chaos’ said, “He beat him? It didn’t really look like he beat him. I mean, [blows raspberries]… He definitely didn’t beat, he didn’t beat him by the fans’ perspective. He didn’t win over the fans with that fight. So, you know a lot of people thought, you know, Volkanovski won that fight.”

Furthermore, he dissed the Lightweight champion for losing against a Featherweight fighter. Covington said, “And you just lost to a midget, you know, and from featherweight. So, that guy needs to stop talking. He has no room to talk.” He even pointed out that Makhachev was yet to defend his belt against strong challengers.

Covington took shots at Nurmagomedov, as well. He said, “He never came to 170, because the man is here. He doesn’t want to fight the man. He knew the man that had the great style form, the guy that was way more well-rounded, that could stull his takedowns beating his face and punching and putting volume on. And, and that doesn’t break under cardio. Like that’s what I do best. I would have walked him down. So, you know, him and Makhachev need to shut their f**king mouths. They’re all talk and no walk, like myself.” Moreover, the former UFC Interim Welterweight champion believed that he could have bested Nurmagomedov with ease.
