Boxing trainer and commentator Teddy Atlas found an interesting similarity between former UFC interim champion Colby Covington and Boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
‘Chaos’ is infamous for having a villain-type personality in the UFC. The welterweight fighter uses a lot of trash talking to sell his fight and get into his opponent’s head. Trash talk is not a new aspect of combat sports, it is an entertaining factor used even by legendary athletes like Muhammad Ali.

The heat between the fighters makes fans tune in for the fight. No matter if they hate or love a particular combatant, they will watch the fight because of its build-up. Pointing to this in one episode of his podcast, Mike Tyson’s former trainer, Teddy Atlas, compared Covington to Muhammad Ali.
He said, “You know, Covington draws people. Hate him or, he’s like a Muhammad Ali. He goes by the Muhammad Ali, you know, way.”

“And philosophy of people are gonna come, they either hate me or they gonna love me. But they gonna come and buy a ticket, you know. And he knows how to get that storm going,”– Atlas concluded.
Although keeping a character and using trash talk might have benefited ‘Chaos’ in selling pay-per-per-views, it has also badly backfired on the former UFC interim champion as revealed by his upcoming opponent Jorge Masvidal.
Russian fighters mobbed Colby Covington for insulting Khabib Nurmagomedov
‘Chaos’ is infamous in UFC for having a feud with fellow UFC fighters. He not only calls out fighters from the welterweight division but also fighters from other divisions as well. However, this thing turned back at him once.
In an interview with ESPN MMA, ‘Gamebred’ revealed ‘Chaos’ got in huge trouble at American Top Team after insulting the Russian legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Masvidal said, “He said some things about Khabib Nurmagomedov. We got a bunch of Russians here and guess what? Those Russians got him in the bathroom because he was in the sauna with like four or five of them.”

“And they told him, ‘Hey brother, you cannot talk like this. He’s like, ‘No, I am sorry.’ At the time, we were not cool at all because he had already ripped off my coach,”–he added.
“So I was like, I hope they f**k him up…. So I was hoping these Russians were going to take him out. But he was such a coward. And so like ‘no-no, never again bro’… And they are like, don’t disrespect Khabib,” Masvidal concluded.
