Colby Covington is certainly one of the best fighters in the UFC. Not to mention, one of the most entertaining ones as well. Presently, ‘Chaos’ is coming out of a loss against welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. The duo had their second outing at UFC 268, where ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ won by unanimous decision.

After his decision loss against Usman, Swedish fighter Khamzat Chimaev has repeatedly called out the former interim welterweight champion. However, ‘Chaos’ is not on board the hype train and believes that ‘Borz’ still needs to win more fights. Covington went even further to discredit the Swedish fighter’s undefeated streak, claiming in an interview that Chimaev has yet to prove himself.
He said, “He needs a couple of ranked wins, you know. A couple of top 10 ranked wins, you know. Has any of the guys he’s fought in the UFC, are they even still in the UFC? Yeah, they are not ranked, you know. I mean, who knows if they are even still in the UFC. I mean, come on man, let’s start beating some top-level real competition, and then we can start talking about fighting the best fighter in the entire world.”

“So, you know, he earns his way up there. He’ll get his a** spanking and get kicked right back to the bottom.”
Meanwhile, the former interim welterweight champ is busy sparking a feud with ‘Gamebred’ and former teammate Dustin Poirier. After the latter’s disappointing loss against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269, Covington has left no stones unturned to defame ‘The Diamond’.
Why is Colby Covington after Dustin Poirier?
Colby Covington (16-3) and Dustin Poirier have been former teammates in the American Top Team. The duo has fought and sparred together. However, after their fallout, ‘Chaos’ has ripped apart the former UFC interim lightweight champion.
He has even challenged ‘The Diamond’ from time to time. In an interview with Yahoo Sports, ‘Chaos’ claimed that it is a fight that makes sense.

“The only fight that makes sense is that Louisiana swamp trash Dustin Soyrier. He can bring his little Jezabel of his wife, his little prop for a kid. I’m gonna end him.”
