Colby Covington confessed way back in 2019 that he was about to be released by the promotion due to his boring fights. “They didn’t like my style, they didn’t like that I wasn’t entertaining. This is before I really started to become an entertainer and really understand the entertainment aspect of the business,” said Covington in a conversation with the media. ‘Chaos’ understood the entertainment aspect of the industry and evolved alongside the business, however, the same could not be stated for Mokaev.

The flyweight prospect is on a 13-fight winning streak in his MMA career and has yet to be defeated by anyone but his record has not enticed the UFC Supremo Dana White to consider his stance. At the UFC 304 post-fight press conference, Dana White asserted that the UFC would not re-sign Mokaev, “I think the PFL is gonna get a great undefeated guy. Good luck to him,” said White.

Sadly for Mokaev, he couldn’t adjust to the new trends in the fight world and will now be replaced by a more entertaining fighter. The British fighter even had a heated confrontation with Manel Kape before their fight but this antic has worked against the fighter. Mokaev’s relationship with the promotion has been going downhill after the fighter started his negotiations with UFC. Well, there was a chance for him to redeem his contract but it appears that the promotion had made up their mind.
The UFC Supremo already made up his mind about Mokaev
Colby Covington was one of those fighters who was on the brink of being fired. However, thanks to his entertaining demeanor, the promotion decided to keep him regardless. ‘Chaos’ saved his career, but the story is different for Mokaev. After securing victory against Manel Kape, Mokaev made a huge revelation that shocked the entire MMA fandom. Oscar Wilis took to X to be the voice of the fighter. He writes, “Mokaev also says the UFC told him before this fight they might not resign him if he continues fighting a wrestle-heavy style.”

Mokaev further added, “They said they’re gonna see how I perform, they don’t want me to keep shooting and taking people down.” The undefeated flyweight fighter was looking to renew his contract with the promotion by his performance but the reality is that Dana White had already made his decision against Mokaev. A reputed Instagram handle, ‘KnockoutAlerts,’ stated that the promotion was going to let Mokaev go despite his victory.
Well, Muhammad Mokaev is undefeated in his MMA career, and after UFC, the only possible outcome for the fighter is PFL. What’s your take on Dana White’s decision to fire Muhammad Mokaev? State your thoughts in the comments below.
