Colby Covington is gearing up for his UFC welterweight title showdown with Leon Edwards next Saturday, and he’s got a major show of support lined up. Confirming the news himself, Covington revealed that his good friend Donald Trump would be in the audience to cheer him on.
Now, Covington has stated that he has asked the UFC admin to get Trump to put the belt on him after his victory against Leon Edwards. “There is truth to that. Donald Trump will be in attendance Saturday night, and, uh, he’s going to wrap that belt around me. I love Dana White, but I just asked Dana if, you know, he could let Donald put it around me.” said Covington.
He further added “I love Dana White, but I just asked Dana if, you know, he could let Donald put it around me. So, you know, it’s going to be a spectacle. It doesn’t matter who they put in there Saturday night; they could put the Hulk in there Saturday night. No one’s beating me in front of Donald Trump. We’re going to make America great again. We’re going to make the UFC WWE division great again because Leon’s made an absolute joke of it.”
The fact that Covington came to the UFC 296 media wearing an attire with Trump’s face on it shows how highly the fighter thinks of the ex-president. Nonetheless, will the UFC let Trump put the belt on Covington? The probability might be slim considering the fact that UFC is now even willing to let Covington have a walk out with Trump.

He was really excited to walk out with me, but it’s a logistical concern for the UFC, and I understand that.”
