The beef between Colby Covington and Ian Garry has finally hit a wall. The Irish fighter recently expressed his desire to resolve the spat with a fight in the Octagon at UFC 303. With Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler leading the main event, Garry proposed to fight in the co-main event. However, ‘Chaos’ has turned down the offer. Furthermore, he revealed two more names that he thought would be a better match.
‘Machado’ had been calling out Covington for a fight for quite some time now. However, when ‘Chaos’ finally agreed to take on the Irish fighter, he had three stipulations. The Irishman had no option but to reject, giving more fuel to their beef. But now, Covington has completely disregarded the fighter, opting to fight two other fighters in his stead.

In the recent conversation with Kacper Rosolowski and Dennis Shkuratov on Submission Radio, Covington revealed his thoughts on taking on a fight against Ian Garry. He said that he wanted a bigger paycheck. “So, it doesn’t matter if I fight this schmuck or some other schmuck. But either way, you know, I preferably like to go forward, you know. I want to be back in the title picture.” Shkuratov asked Covington about his opinion on Garry’s fight and to break down the stipulations that he once put forth for him and what exactly happened.
Covington replied that there were just three stipulations and that he provided the Irishman with a great deal. However, Garry couldn’t stand up to it. He continued, “The next time this comes back around, that deal is not gonna be so sweet. He’s gonna have to learn the basic principle of life.”
But when Rosolowski asked the fighter if he knew that Garry promised to lift his leg up and let Covington try a takedown, ‘Chaos’ declared that he didn’t know. He claimed that Garry was irrelevant to him because he didn’t have any high-profile victories.
“Like, he does nothing for my career. Why would I fight a guy like this? I fight a guy like this, I go out there and beat this guy, everybody’s just going to be like ‘Oh. it’s a freaking nobody’, you know. There’s local jobbers on the independent circuit that are undefeated. So big deal, you took his- Oh he hasn’t beat anybody. He’s a nobody. So, it’s just- The fight does nothing for my career,” the 36-year-old mixed martial artist revealed.
So if not Garry, then who does Covington want to fight? He wants to get back in the title picture and there is one name he thinks will boost his prospects.

As the conversation continued, the podcasters enquired the former interim UFC welterweight champion about his opinion on Belal Muhammad. “Yeah, I would like Belal. Furthermore, he named Charles Oliveira. Covington claimed that he would indeed be a good match since the Brazilian recently announced his move to the welterweight realm. “I think a guy like Charles Oliveira makes sense, you know. He was out there saying the other day that he wants to come up to welterweight, so…,” he replied.
