Colby Covington has pounced again on Khamzat Chimaev. Known for his brash comments, the former interim welterweight champion declared that there was nothing special about the Swedish fighter. Surprised? Well, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Covington recently made an appearance on Maxx Crosby’s ‘The Rush’ podcast, wherein he was asked whether someone like Chimaev intrigued ‘Chaos’. Although he admitted to being fascinated at the idea of fighting ‘Borz’, he also put forth a condition when he would be interested in the fight. Covington simply seemed to think that the Chechen Wolf was just a normal fighter.

In the recent episode of ‘The Rush’, the American Footballer, Maxx Crosby, asked if Chimaev piqued Covington’s interest. Furthermore, Crosby added his worry over Chimaev missing weight again. The former interim welterweight champ couldn’t say no, but the affirmation was followed by a condition. “In a five-round fight, I would be super intrigued by that fight.”
However, all that followed were complaints. Covington stated that Chimaev was pretty bad with his cardio. He went on to talk about the Russian’s previous fight against Kamaru Usman. The 36-year-old believed that it should have been Usman claiming the win, as according to Covington, the Nigerian was the one who landed the most significant strikes. On the other hand, Chimaev just wrestled and did no damage. Covington was not content with the judges’ decision to let ‘Borz’ get the win.

Nevertheless, ‘Chaos’ thought that with due time, Chimaev’s privilege with Dana White would get exposed. A year ago, the talks around the Chechen Wolf revolved around him asking for fights, but never getting a single one to his name. Without a doubt, Covington was also asked about it.
‘Chaos’ reveals the truth about Chimaev’s hype
During the conversation with the hosts of ‘The Rush’, Covington was asked if there was any truth to people saying no one was taking a fight against Chimaev. ‘Chaos’ true to his moniker, struck ‘Borz’ with high entropy, saying, “Oh yeah. They’re just hyping up. That’s wolf tickets. That’s not true. They try to make him look like this scary freaking larger-than-life figure. But he’s nothing special. He’s a human. He bleeds like all of us, you know. We tie our shoes the same way. So, he’s nothing special. I don’t see anything special.”

The Chechen fighter has often faced controversy for missing weight at UFC 279. However, if Covington and Chimaev met each other in the middleweight division, the fans would indeed witness a fight like never before. Unfortunately, the American fighter has only one condition for that fight.
Do you think Covington versus Chimaev would ever materialize? If yes, then who do you think would rise victorious? Let us know in the comments down below.
