Colby Covington drags Arman Tsarukyan in his beef with ‘The Diamond’

The feud between Colby Covington and Dustin Poirier has roots stretching back to their days as teammates at American Top Team. Covington claims the tension began when Poirier’s rise to fame led him to badmouth ‘Chaos’ over his personality. Before their falling out, Covington says he had supported Poirier, even providing advice during UFC contract negotiations. However, Covington has accused Poirier of getting him ousted from ATT after gaining prominence, allegedly over “mean words.”

In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Covington didn’t hold back, calling Poirier egotistical and jealous. He also highlighted recent comments from Arman Tsarukyan as further evidence of Poirier’s divisive nature. “How about recently about look at Arman started to talk sh** about him like? What’s going on over there with Arman and Dustin?” Covington said. “I don’t think Dustin is the nice guy that he portrays. Everybody tries to act like he’s such a nice guy. Why is another super sweet guy who I used to train with? Arman, good kid; a good little kid but look at him and what he is starting to say about Dustin and how he is trashing Dustin.”

So, what did Tsarukyan say? Despite training under the same roof, the Armenian fighter criticized Poirier’s loss to Islam Makhachev in their UFC bout. Speaking to Outside MMA, Tsarukyan remarked, “There were 2.5 minutes left…Why are you giving up your neck? Well, endure it, get over it, do something, but don’t give up…This is the most important and last fight in your life, and you take it and just give it away. I wouldn’t just give it up.”

Grant Dawson reveals a chink in Makhachev’s armor

Islam Makhachev is undoubtedly one of the deadliest fighters in the lightweight category but his opponent’s training partner suggested that the Dagestani was not as flawless as he looked. 2025’s first PPV is right around the corner, and for the Russian phenom, this is a chance to cement his legacy with the most title defenses at 155 lbs as a personal record. Makhachev has amazing wrestling skills and suffocating control with exceptional striking that has brought him to the top of the mountain.

On the other side, the Armenian has swift momentum and knows his opponent’s style since his debut fight was against Makhachev in 2019. 155lbs contender Grant Dawson and both Dustin Poirier and Tsarukyan’s teammate at ATT, shared his thoughts on Makhachev’s possible flaws during the Inside Fighting show, “I think the biggest thing is not letting him move you backward—which is way easier said than done. The biggest flaw I think Islam Makhachev has is I think his weight cut is too big. He cuts too much weight. I don’t think he cuts weight the proper way and you know he’s still amazing. But I think that if you get in his face and you start attacking the body.”

So even though people expect Makhachev to win, can Tsarukyan tap into the weak points and turn the tables at UFC 311? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
