The UFC Fight Night card on August 21 has a new fight added to it. Lightweight veteran Clay Guida is set to take on former Olympic silver medalist, Mark Madsen. The undefeated Madsen is set to make his third walk to the Octagon. He has previously fought in organizations like Cage Warriors before plying his trade in the UFC.
‘The Olympian’ made his UFC debut in 2019, earning a T/KO finish over Danilo Belluardo. He earned a unanimous decision win over Austin Hubbard at UFC 248 to build on his impressive start. He will now face a true veteran of the sport and the UFC in ‘The Carpenter’.

The former Strikeforce and WEC veteran, Guida has already made a massive 30 appearances inside the Octagon in his career so far. He currently holds a professional record of 36-20. The Team Alpha Male fighter has won 2 out of his last 5 inside the Octagon so far. Wins over B. J. Penn and Michael Johnson are his most recent triumphs in the Octagon.
The card on August 21 will be headlined by a middleweight clash between Paulo Costa and Jared Cannonier. Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Royval will engage in a flyweight contest as well. Madsen’s last opponent, Hubbard, is also a part of the intriguing card.
The main event fighter, Costa, will make his return to the Octagon. ‘Borrachinha‘ hasn’t fought since losing in his first title fight at UFC 253. He will face ‘The Killa Gorilla‘, who also lost his last fight.

Madsen is undoubtedly one of the most decorated wrestlers in the entire UFC roster. Apart from being an Olympic silver medalist, Madsen is also a four-time medalist at the world wrestling championships as well.
How the veteran, Guida, handles ‘The Olympian’ remains to be seen. ‘The Carpenter‘ has been in there against all kinds of opponents. So, it will be tough for any individual to completely outclass him.
