The Twitter conversation between Dave Portnoy and Justin Gaethje was discussed in the Joe Rogan Experience episode 1920. The conversation between Portnoy and Joe Rogan covered a wide range of issues. This included the dramatic events that happened on social media. They both sat down to read about Portnoy and Gaethje’s Twitter battle. Portnoy claims that Gaethje’s tweet about Portnoy’s preference for Paddy Pimblett started the whole thing. On the other side, Rogan seems to be very concerned about the expanding ties between Chechen and UFC fighters.

Joe Rogan on the Twitter conversation

The creator of the sports and pop culture site ‘Barstool Sports’, Dave Portnoy, is an online celebrity who publicly shares his opinions on Twitter. UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett had signed a seven-figure sponsorship contract with Barstool Sports. Paddy Pimblett was the target of numerous disputes, alleging that he did not deserve the victory at UFC 282. Even at that time, Portnoy openly supported Pimblett. Gaethje questioned this on Twitter, and Portnoy responded by accusing him of having ties to Ramzan Kadyrov, the warlord in the Chechen Republic.

In his tweet, Portnoy described how Gaethje was seen hanging out with the warlord, who is charged with horrible crimes against humanity. Portnoy thinks it’s not a huge thing to support Paddy if Gaethje can back a warlord. The MMA fighter was blasted by Portnoy for being hypocritical. Despite Gaethje rejecting the claims, Portnoy’s allegations were strengthened in the Joe Rogan Experience.

According to Portnoy, Gaethje was with one of the world’s worst individuals, and there is a photo of the MMA fighter with the warlord’s son on his birthday. He acknowledged that the Twitter conversation devolved and culminated in the lightweight threatening to beat up Portnoy.

The connection between the fighters and the warlord

The relationship between the fighters and the warlord clearly troubled UFC commentator Joe Rogan. He explained that he is aware of many fighters visiting the warlord because they are paid to do so.

Rogan stresses the need for fighters to remain true to the sport and avoid such people. Portnoy continued by saying that the game with the warlord is a savage game and brutal for the fighters to enter. Rogan claims that he is not interested in coming there, regardless of what they are giving. He goes on to suggest that the crimes the warlord seeks to commit are clear-cut. Even though it’s propaganda, the UFC commentator makes it apparent that it’s best to stay away from any of those problems and savage activities.
