Chael Sonnen revealed that he heard a rumor surrounding Charles Oliveira’s camp. The former UFC fighter said that he revealed that he came across the piece of information from Charles Oliveira’s coach.
Sonnen said, “Charles Oliveira’s head coach said that he was offered the rematch in Perth and it was supposed to be him and not Volkanovski regardless of the face-off at the end of the night where Islam and Volk faced off and they made the fight right there with Daniel”.
Furthermore, the controversial former fighter added that UFC was going to give Oliveira the fight against Makhachev instead of Volkanovski. However, Oliveira’s coach said that they turned the fight down according to Sonnen.
Adding on to his point, Sonnen continued, “But right there if that’s true. We now know the motivation of Charles is to not get back in there with Islam. So it’s a very precarious spot. If you’re gonna get the jump on Beneil you’re gonna have to be in a level of conditioning that Charles Oliveira has never been in.”
Sonnen then went on to talk about Oliveira’s upcoming bout against Beneil Dariush at UFC 289. The next fight for Oliveira becomes all-important in his quest to regain the championship.
