Former lightweight champion Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira will be taking on rising prospect Arman Tsarukyan at the historic UFC 300 event this weekend. The Brazilian has managed to amass a cult following after an incredible run, going on an 11-fight win streak inside the UFC octagon from June 2018 to May 2022. Moreover, he even secured the UFC lightweight title in this run.

Oliveira would unfortunately lose to Makhachev at UFC 280 but would bounce back scarier than ever, knocking out Beneil Dariush in the first round at UFC 289. And now, Charles Oliveira will be coming into the fight against Arman Tsarukyan as a +170 underdog. However, all that just might change when the fight fans hear his iconic walkout music.

Charles Oliveira is one of the most enigmatic fighters on the lightweight roster. So it isn’t a surprise to see the arena blow up with cheers when the Brazilian walks out into the octagon. And his walkout against Dariush at UFC 289 was nothing less, where Oliveira was caught moving to “Oh Hino” by Brazilian Christian singer, Fernandinho.

Oliveira has always been a fighter who stands strong in his faith in Christianity, preaching the Gospel whenever he gets the chance. From his iconic catchphrase, ‘Illuminated by God’,  to his constant expression of faith moving mountains, the Brazilian chose his walkout song as a tribute to his belief in Christianity.

Notably, Charles Oliveira could go on to get his rematch against Islam Makhachev if he gets a win against the 27-year-old Armenian. However, Arman Tsarukyan doesn’t seem to believe that his opponent and former lightweight champion is as special as people make him out to be.

Arman Tsarukyan has harsh criticism for the former UFC lightweight champ

Even hinting at having figured out the puzzle known as Charles Oliveira, he stated, “Charles is good at one thing: taking his opponent’s back and choking him out from that position. He has long limbs, so he’s good at taking the back, locking the triangle, and finishing the submission. But overall, he’s nothing special. Yes, he has some tricks when pulling guard, but nothing extraordinary.”

How do you see the fight between Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan going? Do you side with the majority who believe that Tsarukyan will get the upper hand, or do you think that Oliveira will pull off an upset?
