Renato Moicano sent a pretty massive shockwave through the fighting community with a behind-the-scenes talk. Well, the former interim Jungle Fight featherweight champion hinted at Justin Gaethje and Dan Hooker possibly clashing against each other in 2025. Well, the MMA realm was already speculating a fight between Hooker and Gaethje for a long time now. And with Gaethje’s Christmas present, things became a bit more jolly for the fight fans. After all, it would be the first time ‘The Highlight’ would fight after his last-second defeat at UFC 300.

On the 19th of December, MMA Frenzy took to X and shared a picture of the ‘Hangman’ and ‘The Highlight’. The caption of the tweet read, “Renato Moicano says that he’s hearing information from “behind the scenes” that Justin Gaethje will fight Dan Hooker next.” Well, MMA Mania previously confirmed that Hooker and Gaethje were in talks to fight at UFC 313.

The bout was planned to go down on 8th March 2025, in T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. And that’s exactly what the AKA head coach Javier Mendez had said earlier. Mendez had revealed that the former UFC interim lightweight champion would fight in March 2025. Even though he wasn’t sure of his opponent, Hooker didn’t escape his list. 

Before Moicano’s BTS talks came to light, ‘The Highlight’ hinted at the bout with a meme on social media. A fan had tweeted, “Dear Santa: There’s only one think I want for Christmas. [Gaethje] vs [Hooker]” The former BMF champion took his time to respond to the fan in a classic Christmas meme from ‘Home Alone’. “MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU FILTHY ANIMAL,” read the text on the meme. 

But what do the fight fans think of the rumors? Well, of course, they’re rumors until Dana White and Co. officially announce the fight. As soon as the rumor hit the social media platform, fight fans swooped into the comments section to express themselves. Let’s see what they had to say.

Rumors of a Justin Gaethje vs. Dan Hooker fight leaves the MMA community salivating

Needless to say, a matchup between Gaethje and Hooker packed nothing but action. Even though many fans believed that it would be pretty entertaining, one fan believed that things would go downhill after the rumored fight. The comment read, “You cant start the year off with fight of the year!!!! It would only be down hill from there. Dan will win and then challenge for the BMF.” The excitement was real when another fan wrote, “This just makes sense and is a good fight. Not sure why I didn’t consider this earlier.” Meanwhile, one more fan added, “Bro this is actually a good match up for both. i can justin taking by tko but can’t sleep on Dan with his heart and determination.”

However, some of the fight fans were left baffled by the matchup. One fan wrote, “Not sure what Gaethje would get out of fighting Dan.” Despite the prowess of one another, their recent fights made some fans believe it would be a boring fight. A fan commented, “Yuck feel like ive seen that fight a thousand times even though they never fought each other.”

On top of that, many fans began wondering about Dustin Poirier. The ‘Diamond’s suggestion of a 4-man fight for the BMF title had the netizens enticed. But now, things seemed uncertain for the Cajun fighter. One fan weighed in on this and wrote, “If this is the case, which it should be. Then who does that leave for Dustin?” Nevertheless, fans began conversations about a trilogy fight between Poirier and Gaethje. One fan dejectedly wrote, “So much for Poirier vs Gaethje 3.” Another fan commented, “Make Justin vs Dustin trilogy and let them both retire.”
