Many UFC fighters have talked about how weird it is to accept slapping each other as a sport. Ever since the UFC president, Dana White, made the announcement of the show, it has been receiving harsh criticism from athletes both inside and outside MMA. One more person of interest has been added to the list, and it is none other than the retired MMA fighter Chael Sonnen. Sonnen was talking during Steve-O‘s wild ride. Steve-O asked Sonnen whether he watched the Power Slap League. The question paved the way for a long discussion.
Chael Sonnen find it hard to accept Power Slap
In the Wild Ride, Sonnen said, “I have an open mind, but I don’t know how they’re going to convince me that there’s a sport going on where you let the person hit you. I think they’re gonna have a hard time, they’re gonna have a hard time with me“. Sonnen confessed that he likes to get exposed to new sports, however, Power Slap is not something he can develop an interest in.

After listening to Sonnen’s take on the Power Slap League, Steve-O talked about how he launched the hit movie series “Jackass” and compared it to Dana White’s show. He said, “I envisioned us (Jackass) having just being allowed on TV sure you know like uh that nobody’s gonna love the show. What we do is we become rather nimble and work our way around the rules and kind of jumping through hoops and a little bit we find ways to get away with showing what we do. I don’t know how this is on TV.”
Here Steve-O detailed all the thoughts that go behind while we take a show to the TV. According to him, the whole idea behind the power slap league is silly, and does not understand the show’s appeal.

No one can stop Dana White
In contrast to the power slap, both competitors can defend one another in other combat sports. This is the primary cause of the reality show’s widespread criticism. In the show, the fighter cannot defend themselves when they get slapped. The participant can slap back only after the opponent finishes his turn. The power slap, in White’s opinion, is a competition to see who is the fiercest combatant. He has consistently made an effort to make the show successful.

White, unconcerned about the spreading hatred for the show, is doing everything he can to progress the Power Slap League. One example of this is his bold choice to stream the performance live on pay-per-view on March 11. Do you agree with Sonnen’s and Steve-O’s opinions? Let us know in the comments below.
