America’s performance at this year’s 33rd boxing event was disappointing, with only Omari Jones securing a bronze medal after losing to Uzbekistan’s Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev. Despite ample resources and opportunities, no other American athlete got the medal. This outcome has sparked frustration, leading to American boxer Jake Paul’s recent announcement of his intention to compete in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
In a recent interview with Happy Punch, Paul expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of American boxing, stating, “I’m going to enter the 2028 Olympics for boxing in Los Angeles. I’m sick and tired of waiting around, waiting for another gold for Team USA.” This news caught the attention of UFC veteran Chael Sonnen, who affirmed this idea and offered his support to Paul, saying, “I will do anything I can to support this idea and help to make it happen.”
While only amateur boxers were allowed to compete in the Olympics before 2016, it has changed now and professional boxers can also participate. However, they must clear a qualification tournament.

Last year, Jake Paul teamed up with USA Boxing to train the Olympic squad in Colorado Springs. Serving as a brand ambassador, he spent plenty of time, helping the amateur boxers prepare for the Olympics. However, Paul’s ambitions extend beyond this role. Aiming to win medals for his country, he recently revealed a list of opponents he wants to fight next in boxing.

Jake Paul names desired opponent after Mike Tyson
Since his debut in the boxing world, Jake Paul has become a force to be reckoned with, winning six consecutive fights to start his career. He has rolled over everyone who has entered the ring with him, boasting a record of 11-1 with the sole loss coming against Tommy Furry in February. After that loss, Paul rebounded with a victory over Nate Diaz last year.
Despite his exemplary record, Paul’s haters consistently criticize him, accusing him of targeting opponents who are retired or in the twilight of their careers. But proving his detractors wrong, Paul recently called out the UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for a boxing match.

Hn a recent interview with the Full Send podcast, Paul revealed a list that includes more names than just Alex Pereira. “Pereira, McGregor, Canelo, KSI, Tommy Fury. It’s honestly the difficulty in figuring out the weight. We both agreed to 185, but that was 18 months ago. We’re both heavier. I couldn’t make 185 anymore. That’s part of the issue,” the 27-year-old said about his potential fight against Alex Pereira.
