Chad Mendes Makes a Case for Khabib Nurmagomedov Placing Higher Than GSP and Anderson Silva on the UFC GOAT List

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s battle has created an everlasting impact on the sport of MMA. Their bout at UFC 229 is the highest-selling PPV in the sport. Additionally, many rivalries in the UFC stem from the feud between McGregor and Nurmagomedov. This also made an endless conversation about whether Nurmagomedov should be considered an all-time great and Chad Mendes has added to the conversation.

Recently, Mendes spoke about the style and dominance of ‘The Eagle’. Coming from the same background of wrestling, he interestingly shared a similar opinion about wrestling to that of Jorge Masvidal and Joe Rogan. Much to everyone’s amazement, he ranked the former lightweight champion higher than Georges St-Pierre and Anderson Silva.

Chad Mendes speaks highly of Khabib Nurmagomedov

Chad Mendes appeared in an interview with Cameron Hanes on his YouTube Channel. The former fighter spoke about another of Conor McGregor’s rivals, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Mendes considers Nurmagomedov to be one of the best-ever fighters to grace the octagon.

Mendes said, “I think Khabib’s up there for sure too…” Furthermore, while answering some of the criticism that the former lightweight champion faced owing to not facing top competition, Mendes added, “Maybe not quite all the best top competition. Do I have any doubt that he wouldn’t have beat them. Absolutely not. I think he would have probably still crushed.”

Mendes cited Khabib Nurmagomedov’s fight with Conor McGregor to show his dominance

Chad Mendes added that ‘The Eagle’ is one of the most dominant fighters in the game. With a record of 29-0, Mendes is certainly accurate in his judgment. Moreover, ‘Money’ said, “He’s one of those types of fighters that were extremely strong. Like had the will to go from bell to bell and never slow down or stop. I mean, his top game, his ability to get someone down, grind them is like probably one of the most vicious styles of fighting in my opinion.”

Furthermore, he added while speaking about UFC 229, “Like you can be the best striker in the world. Look what he did with Conor.” He continued by saying that Nurmagomdov’s ability to dictate where the fight went was the most striking feature of the bout. Lastly, they added that it would have been tough for any fighter to defeat ‘The Eagle’. Also, Mendes and Hanes were impressed by the fact that Nurmagomedov did not bleed in a single bout in his 29-0 record.
