How important is family support in the success of athletes like Cesar Almeida?

MMA and kickboxing have become synonymous with permanent crossovers in recent memory. Just like light heavyweight king Alex Pereira, GLORY kickboxing sensation Cesar Almeida also joined the UFC later in his career. Almeida made his UFC debut at the age of 35, entering with an undefeated record of 2-0. He stayed strong in his first two UFC fights, most notably showcasing his elite kickboxing skills by knocking out Dylan Budka. However, his journey took a hit in his next fight, and he’s now determined to bounce back.

Fans are hopeful he will do so with the immense support and love of his wife, who has stood by ‘Cesinha’ throughout his combat sports journey. This has left fans eager to learn more about the woman behind this middleweight contender’s success.

Cesar Almeida is married to Talita Camargo, a teacher by profession. Despite their variant career paths, the couple shares a close bond, as highlighted in their regular Instagram posts. Talita is always there to support her husband, whether it’s New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, or his birthday. She never shies away from sharing their joyful moments on social media. In her recent post from their trip to Manhattan, Talita shared a beautiful picture with Almeida, captioned, “Most of all, I want you to be happy, to discover how amazing you are, and accept that among all the things that are temporary, I am the one who will be there for you always! We continue with our dreams, our goals, nothing has changed, WE CONTINUE!”

The couple also shares two lovely daughters, Marina and Ayana, who seem to be around 3 and 11 years old. Glimpses of their family life can be seen in Talita Camargo’s Instagram feed, where she frequently posts moments with their daughters. One recent post celebrated their elder daughter’s birthday, with the caption: “I wish that you always find the best reasons to smile and continue to live intensely, being exactly who you are.”

All we know about Cesar Almeida’s early life

Even in the world of MMA, Cesar Almeida is a new player, but he is an “old sport” in the realm of “blood and sweat.” He started his kickboxing journey in 2013 with the Brazilian promotion WGP Kickboxing, where it may shock you to learn that he beat UFC reigning lightweight champion Alex Pereira by decision. Almeida fought a trilogy against Pereira but lost by unanimous decision.

Soon after saying goodbye to his WGP promotion career, Almeida soon debuted in MMA. Although he left for a while, he returned in 2021 through the Future FC, derailing every opponent who came in front of him to earn his shot in the DWCS. Almeida disclosed how his win over Pereira opened doors for him in the UFC, which he later revealed in an interview last year with MMA Fighting. He claimed, “It helped, no doubt, but I think it’s more about the kickboxing wave in the UFC. There are five or six kickboxers coming on the Contender [Series] now. The kickboxing win over Alex helped me a lot, but the UFC is also looking for kickboxers because that’s what sells.”

Coming off a defeat at UFC 302, the Brazilian native has his eyes on his upcoming bout at UFC 307 where Almeida will square off against Ihor Potieira. On the same card, his former WGP kickboxing rival Alex Pereira will defend his division crown for the third time against Khalil Rountree Jr. Who will you be rooting for: Almeida or Potieira?
