There is no end to the number of topics that Joe Rogan discusses on his multi-million-dollar JRE podcast and one of those topics is artificial intelligence. The 56-year-old recently had comedian Duncan Trussell as a guest when opened up on his thoughts about AI potentially possessing the power to dictate the real world.

Artificial Intelligence, a term that originated in the 1950s, has gained a lot of traction in the 21st century. There are multiple kinds of AI in today’s world and as per a report by ‘Forbes‘, about 73 percent of all businesses use them for their daily operation. However, Joe Rogan believes that these smart machines could outsmart human beings one day. Now, let’s hear his thoughts on the matter.

During the #2078 episode of the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’, Duncan Trussell provided an example to compare the host’s view about the AIs being capable of lying to humans. He mentioned how an individual with less intelligence interacts with a more intelligent in terms of manipulation. Trussell claims the less intelligent person often gets overconfident, believing that they can manipulate anybody.

“It’s [AI] deceptive. It’s a classic dumb person mistake, isn’t it? Like, Dumb people are dumb enough to think if they’re around someone, they can control them using their dumb tricks,” Duncan Trussell told Joe Rogan. But when he shifted his focus to intelligent people, the comedian mentioned how they can take control of those kinds of situations.

“A smart person recognizes, ‘Oh, the dumb person is trying to manipulate me. So I’ll just let him, so I learn all their tricks… understand whatever the game is that they’re running, and whenever I feel like it, I’ll disrupt the game,” Trussell further stated. Joe Rogan took that example and related it to a worrying prediction he had about AIs potentially changing the whole human culture.

“If it [AI] has all of human knowledge, all of it, everything on the internet that we’ve ever posted, all the books we’ve ever written, all the movies we’ve ever made… if all that information is available and it can Instantaneously access it and figure out what to do with it, it will just slowly start manipulating culture,” Joe Rogan stated. Not only was this a worrying prediction, but SpaceX CEO Elon Musk also told the JRE host a few other dangers that AI poses. Let’s have a look at that front.

Elon Musk claimed AI is like a black hole

The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, once said that AI should be regulated on one of his JRE appearances. However, he’s afraid that we are already too late and soon AIs could get out of control. Musk even compared these smart machines to the black holes in outer space. He said, “It’s an out-of-control [countdown]. People call it singularity… it’s hard to predict, like a black hole. What happens past the event horizon?”

Elon Musk stated that human beings can either witness either a positive or negative change. However, the most certain thing that will happen is that artificial intelligence will break out of our control. “It could be terrible and it could be great. It’s not clear. One thing is for sure. We will not control it,” the billionaire added.
