Robert Whittaker seemingly is set to finally return to the Octagon. The UFC CEO Dana White took to his Instagram to share the details of Whittaker facing Paulo Costa at UFC 298 in Anaheim, Calif. Both were previously scheduled to meet at UFC 284 in February. Nevertheless, the fight did not materialize after Costa pulled out because of a contract dispute.

Whittaker, the current number four ranked middleweight in the UFC, was last seen in the Octagon against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 290. ‘ The Reaper’ lost the fight after getting knocked out by the current number one contender, Du Plessis. Before this loss, Whittaker won against Marvin Vettori at UFC Paris. The 33-year-old will look to get back to winning ways once he steps inside the Octagon at UFC 298. 

After Dana White announced the fight, fans took to Instagram to share their thoughts regarding the upcoming fight. While most fans seemed excited, some feared that ‘Borrachinha’ might pull out of the fight again. Let us take a look at some comments below.

Costa is the eighth-ranked middleweight in the division but has not fought since he defeated former champion Luke Rockhold at UFC 278. The Brazilian was also expected to fight Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294 in October. However, he was forced out of the fight because of a staph infection. Volkanovski, the reigning UFC flyweight champion, has an impressive record and has lost just twice in his career against the same man, Islam Makhachev. ” The Great” was last seen in action at UFC 294 against Makhachev, where he suffered a loss via knockout in the first round. It will be interesting to see how the Australian lines up for his fight against Topuria at UFC 298.

Topuria is in the form of his life and is yet to be beaten in the UFC.
