Carlos Prates, born in Brazil, is one of the few UFC fighters who has mastered the art of eight limbs. He began honing his skills at the renowned Vale Top Team gym during his teenage years. Even now, “TheNightmae” still visits his gym whenever he’s in Sao Paulo. After being introduced to Muay Thai, Prates made his MMA debut four years later. He regularly switched between kickboxing and MMA, but after suffering four losses in MMA, he decided to move to Thailand, the home of Muay Thai.

There, he lived for six years, and during an interview, Carlos Prates recalled his experience of fighting Muay Thai. The fighter revealed how it was different from other countries. He explained that in Thailand, there are no sponsors; fighters need to compete regularly to earn money for basic necessities. Prates mentioned that he had 103 fights in total during his time in Thailand. He also shared, “There was a year I did 25 fights in Asia, four a month in three different countries. It was cool, visiting new places and new people, new cultures.”

In the world of MMA, many fighters have a history of unhealthy habits and addiction, such as Conor Mcgregor, who is known for his drinking habits. Similarly, Prates recently discussed his smoking habits during an appearance on the “Show Me the Money” podcast. He shockingly revealed how he became addicted to cigarettes, starting soon after hitting puberty. He explained that he only had his mother in his family, and when she left for work, he had the opportunity to smoke with his friends while roaming the streets of Brazil. This habit continued to grow over time.

Reflecting on the COVID-19 days, Prates revealed that he became more deeply involved in smoking. However, he soon realized the repercussions of his actions and has been trying to tame his addiction. Despite this unhealthy habit, the fighter has been able to perform well in the ring, as evidenced by his recent fight against Charlie Radtke. With a current three-fight winning streak, Prates has another opportunity to extend it on his birthday, August 17th, at UFC 305 in Australia. He won’t miss the chance to gift himself a fourth consecutive win. Stay tuned for further updates.
