The Oscar-winning actor Will Smith is back with his upcoming Hollywood project. Will Smith last appeared in the 2021 biographical sports drama film- King Richard. This is his first project after the infamous ‘Oscar Slap’ incident involving Chris Rock.
The project titled ‘Emancipation’ is a historical action thriller and is based on a true story. The slated movie revolves around the theme of American slavery and narrates the story of Gordon, who escapes a near-death experience.

While the story looks enticing, the fans and in particular a former UFC legend have pointed out the similarities between the title of the movie and Will Smith’s off-the-screen life.
Jake Shields about Will Smith’s next project
Former UFC legend Jake Shields is a popular face in combat sports history and his long list of achievements includes winning championships at Rumble on the Rock, EliteXC, and Strikeforce. Further, he additionally challenged Georges St. Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Championship.
Jake Shields ended his professional MMA record with 29-7-1. The American Jiu-Jitsu fighter is quite active on Twitter and doesn’t shy away from expressing any of his opinion online.
Accordingly, when the Emancipation poster was released, Shields took to Twitter and attempted a hot take. He referred to the infamous Oscar Slap incident and commented, “Can’t wait to see the new film about Will getting emancipated from Jada.”
After that, he replied to his own tweet, where he attached a photoshopped image of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Without a doubt, the former Strikeforce champion was on top of his comic game.
Other fans had similar reactions too. Some even compared Will Smith’s looks to Abraham Lincoln’s and Robert Downey Jr.’s when he was in Tropic Thunder.
Antoine Fuqua had the reins of directing the upcoming Apple+ project. Besides Will Smith, the film stars Ben Foster and is made on a budget of $120 million. The movie had its first screening on 1st October 2022 in Washington D.C. and will be released on Apple+ this December.

Will Smith faced a lot of backlash because of his actions at this year’s Academy Awards. The host and famous comedian Chris Rock was on the receiving end of Will Smith’s lost temper actions. The comedian made a comment about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. He referred to a character from a famous Hollywood movie, G.I. Joe, and commented on her shaved head.
This didn’t go well with the Hollywood actor who walked on the stage and slapped the comedian. This incident became a rage on the internet and became one of the most talked about topics worldwide.
