Sean O’Malley has silenced all the haters. The 28-year-old has now risen to the position of bantamweight champion. O’Malley and Aljamain Sterling locked horns at UFC 292 at TD Garden in Boston. The majority of the MMA community believed that ‘Funk Master’ is going to win the bout, as he had won several glorious victories in the past. Sterling rose to the position of UFC bantamweight kingpin after he won UFC 259 by disqualification. Later, he could defend his title three times. However, when ‘Suga’ stood opposite inside the octagon, ‘Funk Master’ faced an unexpected loss.
At the moment, the fans are showering praise on O’Malley for his dominant victory. Some even compared him with UFC superstar Conor McGregor. The major reason behind the same is that the 28-year-old’s knockout of ‘Funk Master’ bears a striking resemblance to Conor McGregor’s memorable defeat of Jose Aldo in 2015. As the fans continue to compare them, O’Malley has also joined the community.

Before the monumental clash between O’Malley and Sterling, the X user called ‘Homelander MMA’, posted a video of the bout between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo at UFC 194. The bout is considered one of ‘Mystic Mac’s greatest fights, as he achieved a glorious knockout victory against Aldo 13 seconds into the first round. The victory also made McGregor the featherweight champion of the world’s biggest MMA promotion.
After posting the clip, ‘Homelander MMA’ wrote, “How Sean O’Malley fans think he’s gonna do Aljo.” The biggest irony was that when the bout became a reality, O’Malley defeated Sterling, similar to how McGregor defeated Aldo. The Helena native floored ‘Funk Master’ with a stunning right hook, then unleashed a series of blows, compelling the referee to intervene. The finish was similar to that of the Irishman’s takedown of ‘Junior’, but their fight concluded in a mere 13 seconds. It is noteworthy that the sequence of moves looked almost identical. However, ‘Suga’ used his right hand to punch Sterling, while McGregor did it with his left hand. Hence, one of the fans commented about how close their moves were.
Can’t get much closer than that
