During the UFC 297 broadcast, the crowd began chants aimed at the Prime Minister. While discussing this on his podcast, Rogan said, “Yeah, they yelling F*ck Trudeau. Yeah.” Subsequently, he was quick to confer his opinion, “Canada, get your sh*t together. Come back. Come back to what you used to be. That Pierre Poilievre guy—that guy makes sense.”
His mention of Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Official Opposition, suggests a longing for a leadership style that Rogan perceives as more sensible. Poilievre is a lifelong conservative and a believer in a free market.
The UFC commentator has expressed his reluctance to visit Canada in the past, citing his disapproval of Trudeau and the state of the country’s government as the reason. In fact, he was unhappy about the likelihood of his podcast got banned in the country because of legal issues. During episode no. 2073 of the JRE with Canadian influencer and entrepreneur, Derek, from ‘More Plates More Dates’, Rogan stated, “That place needs 100% an overhaul of government.”
The Canadian guest acknowledged the limited political information and media prevalence in Canada compared to the United States. Joe Rogan also compared the situation to practices in authoritarian countries like China, expressing disbelief at the restrictions imposed on accessing news content in Canada.

When Joe Rogan and Elon Musk criticized Canada’s mandate on streaming services
In a conversation with Francis Foster & Konstantin Kisin from Triggernometry on JRE episode #2043, Joe Rogan shared his unhappiness with the Canadian government’s steps toward regulating streaming and podcasting. He said, “I was reading about what they’re doing, and it’s terrifying. So, they want to bring in this bill whereby they regulate podcasts. What they want to do is, every podcast streamer or whatever it is, a platform that makes more than $10 million in revenue (not profit, but revenue), has to register with the Canadian government.”
As per ‘CRTC’ website, online streaming services need to register and not individual creators. Further, social media services must also be registered. Even Elon Musk did not like the idea. He took to X (formerly Twitter) and opined that Trudeau was aiming to curb free speech.
