UFC legend Chael Sonnen admires the free agent Francis Ngannou. But, the submission grappler is doubtful whether the Cameroonian fighter is free in the appropriate manner. The former UFC champion, after the failed prolonged contract negotiations, left the promotion. While the heavyweight fighter is not short of admirers, ‘The Predator’ finds himself sailing with no fixed destination ahead. Now that Ngannou has his fate in his own hands, the fans are not sure of his next move. Meanwhile, his brave act has amassed him a respectable following among MMA fighters and fans alike. The same has left him unemployed. Similarly, Sonnen put hard questions to the free agent and voiced apprehensions about his freedom.

Talking in his latest YouTube video, the MMA analyst discussed how his mentor, Randy Couture, recently expressed pride in the 36-year-old’s gutsy move. However, Sonnen analyzed whether the 17-3 record’s free agent label afforded him true freedom.
Sonnen asks scathing questions to Francis Ngannou
MMA fighter-turned-analyst emphasized the claim of the Xtreme Couture team representative. Notably, Ngannou claimed that he was free and therefore, he could do anything he wanted. According to the Oregon-born fighter, Ngannou‘s definition of freedom included him going and doing anything he wanted.
The former UFC title contender then, towards the end of the conversation, asked the heavyweight fighter whether his freedom could award him a title match and millions of dollars. Thus, the 45-year-old asked, “I’m gonna say to him, can you fight Jon Jones on March 4th at T-Mobile for a world championship and millions of dollars? He’s gonna say, ‘no I can’t do that. Can’t do that, I need a contract to do that’.”
“Okay, so you’re not free to do things that come within a contract, so what are you free to do? ‘I can do anything I want’,” he added later on.

Further, Sonnen quizzed whether Ngannou could fight Stipe Miocic in a trilogy. Clarifying that the fearsome knockout artist couldn’t do so, he furthermore mentioned that he needed a contract to exercise that kind of freedom.
In addition, the 31-17 record holder inquired whether he could fight for the world championship. Then again, Sonnen pondered whether Ngannou could make millions of dollars in a month and be the top draw on PPVs.
Francis Ngannou last fought against Ciryl Gane, where he defended his title at UFC 270. With that fight, he completed his UFC contract, and, after unfruitful lengthy contract negotiations, he finds himself without a contract.
