Conor McGregor has climbed back into the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Even though the ‘Mystic Mac’ lent a hand of support to the ex-POTUS, Donald Trump, just a couple of weeks ago, his emotions have now overturned and left him fuming. ‘The Notorious’ has unleashed all hell on the former US President, Donald Trump, and the reason is something very personal for the Irish MMA icon.

Conor McGregor is not happy with Trump for choosing Khabib

No true MMA fan can forget the ugly rivalry between the Russian superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. But, it seemed like Trump did not remember most of it. On the 5th of August, Trump sat down together with famous but controversial online streamer Adin Ross.  Needless to say, the streamer has often associated himself with entities from the world of mixed martial arts, and so has Trump.

As the conversation proceeded, Ross asked Trump about his favorite UFC fighter. Trump, without sparing a single thought, picked the highly controversial yet reputed Nurmagomedov, 29-0 in MMA, as his preferred choice. And that was where it became almost unbearable for ‘The Notorious’.

McGregor, who once had nothing but praise for the former President after he survived the assassination attempt, now changed tunes against the ex-POTUS. The Irish mixed martial artist claimed that “the presidential race is very tight right now” and this “shocking” statement by the Republican candidate won’t go “Unnoticed.” 

The Dubliner lashed out at Trump for choosing a Dagestani fighter instead of an American as his favorite. In a tweet, McGregor wrote, “Campaign ending decision. A smelly fat mountain monkey from the inb**d mountains of Dagestan is your favorite UFC (AMERICAN COMPANY) fighter? Wow. Abysmal.”

Needless to say, things didn’t go unnoticed and the world soon turned against McGregor, starting with Nurmagomedov’s former manager, Ali Abdelaziz, swooping in to defend his former client and the former POTUS. ‘The Notorious’ once praised the ex-POTUS

The relationship between McGregor and Trump wasn’t always a heated one. Earlier in July 2024, Trump was rallying in Pennsylvania when a sniper took a shot at the former president of the USA. But surprisingly, Trump stood tall with the bullets flying around and garnered the respect of the entire world. Needless to say, McGregor was also one among them. Despite being a millionaire, Trump was rallying with the people and that impressed the Irish fighter.

Taking to X, McGregor wrote, “A 78 year old multiple billionaire he should be on a yacht on the med touring golf courses. But he is not. He is in Pennsylvania spitting out bullets! Running for the love of his country! God speed Donald! God bless the United States.”

The Irishman received commendations for his words from Trump’s son and was highlighted in pretty heroic lights. But now, things have changed.
