A 53-year-old breaking records—does this prove age is just a number in combat sports?

The competition for the hardest hitter in the UFC just got interesting! Alex Pereira is one of the most terrifying strikers to ever step foot inside the Octagon. A 75% KO/TKO rate for his UFC fights on Tapology highlights the dangerous power possessed by ‘Poatan’. But during the recent ‘Fanatics Fest’, popular streamer and internet personality ‘IShowSpeed’ eclipsed the UFC light-heavyweight champion on a punching machine that measures your strike’s score.

But UFC boss Dana White, also present at the event had an ace up his sleeve! While both Speed and Pereira put up impressive scores, a 53-year-old friend of White ended up stunningly overshadowing both of them leaving the UFC boss and others in disbelief. Here’s a look at what went down.

In the video shared on his Instagram story by Dana White, Alex Pereira steps up to the plate first to take a crack at the punching machine. Unleashing a solid strike, Pereira rocked the machine with an impressive score of 907. The high score didn’t last long however as Speed was next up in line. Despite being significantly smaller than Pereira, Speed’s athleticism was on full display as he landed a shot that tallied up to a score of 921, overtaking the UFC light heavyweight champion.

This is where things got interesting. According to the video, a 53-year-old attendee at the event then squares up with the machine and blows both Pereira and Speed’s scores away by hitting 922. Speed, left shocked at what transpired then exclaims to the man, “Who are you though? You just came outta nowhere!”

UFC boss Dana White then mentioned, “He’s 53-years old!”. The UFC head honcho failed to mention that the man who came “outta nowhere” is former boxer Skipper Kelp. Holding a 24-4-1 record on BoxRec, Kelp has an eye-catching 15 knockouts on his record, leaving no doubts where the power on display came from. However, Speed wasn’t done making waves yet as he also made an interesting demand from White at the event!

Dana White advises Speed to reconsider his idea to take on ‘Poatan’ in the UFC

Taking on Alex Pereira inside the Octagon is a daunting task even for elite fighters in the UFC. But beating Pereira’s record on the punching machine wasn’t enough for Speed. Speaking to Dana White at the Fanatics Fest event, the internet personality exclaimed, “You said that you’re going to give me the fight, bro.”

When White offered up Adin Ross’s name as a possible opponent, Speed turned him down and demanded that he be given a shot at Pereira for a UFC debut. The UFC boss was left stunned as he inquired, “That’s a bad idea, have you seen him? He’s here, I think when you see him you’ll change your mind.” An adamant Speed declared that he was still ready to take on the challenge.

Despite his confidence, the internet star doesn’t have an extensive combat sports background and the size difference between him and ‘Poatan’ is staggering. Speed’s bravado, fueled by his punching machine victory, underscores his fearless, if not questionable approach to challenges, like willingly stepping inside the Octagon against Alex Pereira.
