The tale of Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler‘s rivalry may be recent, however, it has already mutated into a feud. ‘Notorious’ as well as ‘Iron Mike’ are coming against each other with an intent to mark an end to each other’s career chapters. McGregor, returning from an extended hiatus, is set to make his comeback, while Chandler’s fury has reached a point where he has declared that he would end McGregor’s MMA journey once and for all.

Chandler ͏had patiently bided his time for McGregor, and the unveiling of the match’s date and time served ͏as a wake-up call for the fighter. However, fans are ͏apprehensive about the uncertainty surrounding the event, given Chandler’s inten͏se ͏statement.

Conor McGregor recently declared that his comeback to the UFC will be against Chandler, headlining the promotion’s International Fight Week on June 29. While the UFC hasn’t officially confirmed the bout, Chandler seems certain that it will proceed on the date McGregor mentioned. Exuding confidence, Chandler has pledged to spoil McGregor’s much-anticipated return and predicted an early finish in the fight.

In a recent conversation on his YouTube handle, Chandler asserted that he would be going for the kill early against McGregor. “I finish Conor within the first two rounds and after that, probably end his career,” said Chandler. ‘Iron’ claimed that he didn’t want a normal fight but rather a complete war against McGregor, “I want to stand in the cage with that man, I want to break that man’s will, I want to break his jaw.”

He further added “I want to separate him from consciousness, completely flatline him inside the octagon, and then we say farewell to the sport’s biggest star. Then we can go about our merry way.” It must be noted that McGregor’s almost career-ending injury came when he fought against Dustin Poirier and even though it seems as if he has recovered fully, there is still some wariness surrounding it. Nonetheless, the fans seem worried about Chandler’s statement against ‘Mystic Mac’ rather than the returning post-leg injury version of the Irishman.

Starting off, a sarcastic fan stated that McGregor’s career ended years ago. This fan must have been taking a jibe at the former champion’s string of losses in the 155 lbs division.

Conor’s career ended years ago

Despite McGregor being away from the Octagon, there are still some fans who believe in the dominant ability of the fighter and wish him to have a great comeback.

Meanwhile, another fan stated that McGregor’s defeat would force him into retirement.

If Conor doesn’t win this he should call it quits

McGregor has been humbled a few times in his career, the worst ones arguably being against Nurmagomedov and Poirier. This fan wanted more of the same.

A fan further asserted the same thing mentioned above i.e. the Poirier rivalry ended McGregor’s career. He also pointed out the slim chances to returning to high-level fighting successfully after an injury like McGregor’s.

Dustin already ended his career, no one else has made a legitimate come back from a leg break like that in MMA or kickboxing

Fans seem divided with many expressing concern for the Irishman and wishing him luck while others want him to eat the humble pie again. Given that McGregor has exceeded expectations several times in his career before, everything is up in the air (including the fight date) until we see the pair lock the Octagon door behind them.
