In JRE episode #1890, Rogan hosted writer and stand-up comedian Bridget Phetasy. In a conversation that spanned over three hours, the pair discussed several contemporary topics and laid out their expectations for the upcoming US midterm elections.
Joe Rogan expects a ‘Red Wave’ in the upcoming US elections
Rogan and Bridget Phetasy discussed the issues surrounding gender affirmation surgeries and transgender politics at length. They talked about how volatile the conversations on these issues had become. The pair shared the belief that this aggressive woke culture would affect the US midterm elections.
Phetasy said that there would be pushback against the woke narrative. She said she noticed it in Europe, where leaders of such movements were beginning to follow science more.
Speaking of the US, she added, “We might see it in the midterms. You know? Like, again, people tend to voice their opinion on these things at the ballot when they don’t have to voice their opinion.”
Rogan followed up on her statement and said, “And there are a lot of people afraid of talking about it. But they’re not afraid of voting about it. Because there are a lot of people that are afraid of the reprisal and they’re afraid of getting attacked.”
He continued, “And those people, that’s going to be responsible for the Red Wave. I think the Red Wave that’s coming is going to be like the elevator doors opening up in the shining.”
Continuing their discussion on contemporary events, they also discussed the climate change activists who protested by gluing themselves to paintings.
Rogan and Phetasy on recent climate change protests
The Spotify podcaster and Phetasy expressed their disapproval of climate change activists vandalizing classic art pieces. Interestingly, Phetasy also pointed out how an oil company heiress funded such climate activists.

She said it was hilarious that someone whose fortune came from oil would do such a thing.
Rogan called it a symptom of the TikTok generation; a symptom of all the content they were constantly seeing online. He accused these people of trying to get the most attention with the least amount of work possible. Phetasy said they should adopt more productive forms of protests like cleaning beaches.
