Conor McGregor is inarguably the brightest star in the sky of the UFC. The Irishman is well-known to his fans for his heavy hand strikes inside the Octagon and brutal trash-talking on the mic. ‘Mystic Mac’s’ initial days were rather undisciplined and he also found himself on the wrong end of controversies. It was his sister Erin McGregor, who decided to take a step in order to change her brother’s attitude, which molded him into the superstar we know today. A friend had given Erin McGregor a copy of the book ‘The Secret’, and she found the it to be full really valuable information. She was really impressed by the way this book taught her the way she could take control of her own life.

The law of attraction is the prime foundation of ‘The Secret’. It teaches the reader that they have the capacity to change their lives and manifest everything they want, including money, riches, and happiness. When Erin first recommended this book to McGregor, he thought it was ridiculous.

Conor McGregor finally started absorbing The Secret

McGregor later decided to look at the book on one of his bad days, remembering how Erin would do the same. Conor and his girlfriend Dee Devlin, bought a copy because it was also available on DVD. Conor went on to say, “Even when I first watched it, I was like, this is bulls**t,”, he also said, “But then something clicked for me”.

He became aware that his thoughts, whether positive or negative, frequently turned into reality. So, McGregor and Devlin started following the law of attraction. They started from the very basic things like visualizing the car parking nearest to the door of the shopping center. Conor also said, “And then we’d be able to get it every time.”

These small accomplishments eventually turned into bigger ones, like wealth, success, and fighting championships. The MMA world has seen lots of other great fighters, but none can match the flamboyant persona of the ‘Notorious One’. A lot of this is because of ‘The Secret’ indeed.

Conor McGregor’s life before stepping into MMA

McGregor has said that “I was really focused on football”. He was driven into loneliness following his residence shift from Crumlin to the suburbs of Dublin in Luncan. However, McGregor also said, “In the long run, it ended up working out better for my career, because I ended up being isolated. I ended up alone with my thoughts a lot more,”

It was during his period in Luncan that McGregor started taking kickboxing more seriously. “I realized I was enjoying combat sports a lot more than I was enjoying football,” McGregor mentioned. He also discovered Jiu-Jitsu during this period.

But McGregor took up a job as a plumber due to his parents’ requests. McGregor worked really hard. He did his job for 10 to 12 hours each day, followed immediately by a workout at the gym. But he was unable to maintain such a gruesome routine and gave up his job. Initially McGregor’s parents were skeptical, but he held onto his will and finally made it to the top of professional fighting.

McGregor’s rise to fame

McGregor was a raw talent and scored 4-2 in his first 6 bouts at the ‘Straight Blast Gym’ in Ireland. But he worked on his flaws and become the knockout artist of SBG. He was finally signed by the UFC in April 2013 where he continued his spectacular run having multiple first-round knockouts over noted fighters like Jose Aldo, Eddie Alvarez, Dustin Poirier, and many more.

He went on to become the biggest UFC superstar of his era with the teachings he took from ‘The Secret’.

Although he enjoys a dedicated following among the youth of Ireland, the elderly people seem to think otherwise. But ‘The Notorious One’ seems least bothered about it as he said, “I can’t control what people think of me. I live my own life the way I see fit. I cannot worry about the way people portray me, because people portray me in many different lights. This is the life I am in, so I can do nothing but accept it and carry on.”

Liking or disliking ‘Mystic Mac’ is entirely your choice. But there can be no one denying his stardom in the MMA world. So, are you a ‘Mystic Mac’ fan as well?
