The UFC takes good care of its fighters – be it injuries sustained during a match or during training. The promotion and its President, Dana White, leaves no stone unturned in making sure the fighters are taken proper care of. When involved in combat sports, injuries are inevitable.
UFC Welterweight fighter Gilbert Burns recently suffered a shoulder injury that is somewhat severe. In his last match, he was less than himself but managed to see it through till the end. He is currently recovering from the injury and is looking forward to coming back into the ring to continue the fight.
Gilbert Burns benched for months – Post-fight injury recovery time might be a while

Gilbert ‘Durinho’ Burns has made a name for himself in the UFC. Competing out of the Welterweight division, Burns faced Belal Muhammad at the UFC 288 co-main event that was held on 6 May. The fight didn’t go according to Burns’ plans, as he suffered a shoulder injury that rendered one of his arms nearly useless throughout the fight. Belal Muhammad secured his 5th straight win that night.
Gilbert Burns recently tweeted about his injury and, to everyone’s pleasant surprise, it was actually good news.
“Slowly better! Still a to work to do but I’m improving!” read the tweet and the blow to the fans regarding his injury was cushioned to an extent.

Fans, disappointed with the way the match ended and sad to see Burns suffer a serious injury, replied to the tweet asking whether Burns would return to action this year. The Welterweight replied, “I hope 🤞🏾“.

Burns is not the one to give up. Although he sustained the injury early in the fight, he continued to exchange blows with Muhammad using just one arm. His admirable effort dragged the match out and Muhammad won by decision.
Gilbert back in action – When to expect his return?
The injury Burns suffered at UFC 288 didn’t look good and there was an obvious swelling right after the fight. Fans feared that the Welterweight fighter would have to undergo serious surgery to recover from it.

After being thoroughly checked by the doctors, Burns provided everyone with an update regarding his shoulder injury. While there were multiple tears and sprains around his neck and shoulder, none of the injuries were major. The fighter has made it abundantly clear that he would not be undergoing surgery. Instead, he would be resorting to rehab, stretched over the next two to three months, after getting proper rest for the upcoming three weeks.

Worthy of a rematch, will Gilbert Burns chase after Belal Muhammad once again? To settle the score when the odds are evened? Or does he have his eyes set on the Title resting currently with the Welterweight champion, Leon Edwards? Only time will tell. For now, everyone is praying for a speedy recovery for Gilbert Burns just to see the Brazilian back in action.
