Jon Jones once again proved to the MMA world that he is one of the greatest fighters of all time. ‘Bones’ made it clear that the ring rust had not affected him a bit when he returned to the UFC octagon after a hiatus of three long years in a completely new division. He emerged victorious in his bout against Ciryl Gane to become the UFC Heavyweight Champion at UFC 285. The current heavyweight champion had a spectacular win within two minutes and four seconds into the very first round. Soon after the fight, Jones called out the former two-time heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic to fight next. This gave a hint to the MMA community that Jones came back to the promotion to stay longer.

If the 35-year-old wins against Miocic, he won’t have any other worthy opponents to fight in the new division. Nonetheless, to cement his position, now, he needs to beat yet another greatest heavyweight, and that’s none other than Miocic. This made many speculate that if Jones and Miocic locked horns, it would be his last match in the promotion. However, the UFC legend Chael Sonnen feels otherwise. He thinks that Jones would stay in the promotion for a longer time for one particular reason.

Recently, Helen Yee interviewed Sonnen. During the conversation, Yee asked about his thoughts on Jon Jones’ reign as the heavyweight king. She further enquired if Sonnen thinks ‘Bones’ would stay longer in the position. In reply to the question, the 46-year-old said: Yes, would be the answer to your question. I would say yes and walk out, be done.”

“But Dana White came out he made an interesting comment and he said that he meaning Dana himself, could see Jon Jones beating Stipe and if he defeats Stipe calling it a career saying I’m done because he has nothing left to prove and that would put Jon in a very interesting spot because when you get out of the Stipe Miocic you really step down to lesser-known guys Sergei just by example. Tom Aspinall just by example.”

He further added, “These guys are very talented, but they are much less known and the perception and the view of the risk would be a lot higher. I don’t think that Jon will call it a career, particularly because he is broke. But, when Dana says, I think the guy might hang it up, he might hang it up.
